I'm only human
I'm only, I'm only
I'm only human, human

Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this and see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying

But I'm only human after all
I'm only human after all
Don't put your blame on me
Don't put your blame on me

Take a look in the mirror and what do you see?
Do you see it clearer, or are you deceived
In what you believe?

'Cause I'm only human after all
You're only human after all
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put your blame on me

Some people got the real problems
Some people out of luck
Some people think I can solve them
Lord heavens above
I'm only human after all
I'm only human after all
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put the blame on me

Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
Making you cry

'Cause I'm only human after all
I'm only human after all
Don't put your blame on me
Don't put the blame on me

Some people got the real problems
Some people out of luck
Some people think I can solve them
Lord heavens above
I'm only human after all
I'm only human after all
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put the blame on me
I'm only human; I make mistakes
I'm only human, that's all it takes
To put the blame on me
Don't put the blame on me

I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human after all
I'm only human after all
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put the blame on me
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm just a man, I do what I can
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put your blame on me

What a cop out. Own your mistakes, man.
It's not bad, but it is one of those songs that loses it's novelty after a while.

As that very wise man once said "you plonker"!

This guy is awesome. Saw him in the Jazz Lab at the Montreux Jazz festival back in 2017 and he stole the show, great talent! Very humble young man from Brighton.
so tedious
what a voice!
Oh, it's the toilet paper TV advertisement. (He should have never sold the rights to them, but I guess the money was too good.)
Pretty decent song.

However -- the faint whooping in the background gets pretty annoying.  It feels like it was shoehorned in there by some record producer that decided a famous sample needed to be added to appeal to the hip hop crowd.
Good grief - the pedantic shit bird listeners that get upset about these lyrics are exactly the idiots that will blame someone else when they have a problem. This lyric is about you calling this song your problem. dumbasses

In Germany it was in cellphone contracts commercials first, currently it's razor blades. 20 times a day is minimum. Annoying. Wish it was toilet paper...
I’m surprised people are perplexed by these lyrics?! Perhaps 🤔 they’ve never witnessed sycophantic projection or emotional vampirism, as is evidenced by the language used in this song…?!

You don't have to be "Christ-like" to feel a burden. I see it as a person that has wronged someone else, and is asking for forgiveness, which is not forthcoming. We've all been there.
Mainstream or not. It's a good song.
Powerful voice, raw emotion. I crank this one...

I really dislike this song. I know others have mentioned it, but the premise of this song hides a lot of insecurity. We are ALL human, after all. That's not news. Who is asking this fellow to solve their problems, and who is blaming him for something because he's a man? Well, we are only men and women, and variations thereof -- after all. We are all responsible for our actions, and inactions, and are to blame for mistakes. Whoever the main character of this song is, he's not any different, and I'll blame him if he screws up, and I'll expect him to fix it, and not look for poetic expressions to get out of his responsibilities. I suspect he would do the same. I find it to be a very immature lyric.

I've always found the 'let someone else worry about it' mentality to be most insidious.
Then apathy.
Then maybe relying on a higher power for help during hard times and offering praise during good times.
Course I'm only human so maybe I'm all sorts of wrong.  ;-)
Long Live RP and HUMANity!!
I prefer this chap when he's a bit less "produced" his stuff on Later with Jools Holland with Gregory Porter was fantastic
Lol
Hate the message this tune conveys.

Stand up, be a man. Take responsibility for your actions.

Sure, but I wouldn't say"most of us.". Many people maintain devotions to genres and even performers.  Or am I making assumptions based on a vocal few that the music industry promotes?  Guess I don't know and have no reason to look into.

Carry on then as you were before.

Good music is good music. Obscurity doesn't immediately elevate the joy. Broad appeal needn't negate it either.

Yep, I remember that back in my childhood in the Jurassic. They're still going in Hull as I've seen them going up and down my partner's road, usually in a van but occasionally in a horse and cart driven by a lad with a man accompanying shouting 'RAG AND BONE' in unintelligible elision. I think they're from the local permanent Traveller encampment.
This is the kind of music my local public radio station could play. 4/10

Just a note on the fact you referred to this as British hip-hop: There's a lot of great British hip-hop around, but this isn't it in my opinion. He's clearly effecting an American accent which, as far as I'm concerned, makes it a British dude making hip-hop, rather than British hip-hop. For examples of great hip-hop from this side of the pond (as opposed to Grime, which is something a bit different I'd say, but still worth looking at) check out Foreign Beggars, Akala, and Children of the Damned.

There is a British artist called Tokio Myers...you may want to listen to his version of this song on YouTube he actually combines interstellar and human together and creates one of the most beautiful pieces of music you’ve ever heard. (Tokio Myers-Human)
Not a really bad song but so stupid lyrics...

You dirty old man!
This song is so bad.  Terrible.
I think there should be an amendment to the U.S. Constitution which requires all candidates for public office at any level of government, as a strict condition of eligibility to take office if elected, to quote two lines from this song in every speech and campaign commercial:

"I'm no prophet or Messiah/You should go looking somewhere higher."
Overplayed.

Thanks for the British hip-hop suggestions!  My original take on this track was without knowing he was British, hence the "Texas" sound (which BillG emphasized today playing ZZ Top's La Grange before this one) - and maybe we'll get to hear more of the Brit-Hop you mentioned someday.  LONG LIVE RP!!
Overplay on mainstream radio (at least here where I live) is killing this song for me. It comes on, I shut it off.

I do remember the days before BillG (ingeniously) added the PSD button and I think we have the same percentage of comments "this song sucks, play something else" as before...I think the only thing that's gone up is the number of replies "PSD you idiot!" or the similar.

All that said...I think this is a great track for 2017; a bit harsh sounding in the production, has a good Texas sound to it....so yeah...I'm at an 8 right now.

**EDIT** Well after hearing this track several times, and upping my 8 to a 9, I'm taking it back to the 8.  I still like this track, and I'm really impressed by the idea of British hip-hop.  I think I would like this better if it were "blues-hop" or something like that....the real authentic Texas sound I mentioned last month.  I am not decreasing my rating because of any "pop" influence, although I am prone to not liking what's popular at the time.  For me, I'll need to hear some more Rag'n'Bone Man, possibly I'll get the entire album for those party nights with friends.  LLRP!!

Well, at least it's down to 6 times in 30 days (from 9). Hopefully within the next three months this rate will have reached zero...

I have no idea who the singer or the band are.
First time I heard this was on RP, and it drew my attention because it's quite a powerful voice.
Lyrics are a bit repetitive and simple, but, maybe because English is not my native language I can listen to it like another musical instrument. I don't watch TV, nor do I listen to the FM. Well, I do sometimes, but in a country where almost no foreign music is played. "Foreign" being among other languages, English songs. :)

I'm a Radiohead listener, like Thome Yorke voice very much. I was trying to imagine these two voices, opposite in every aspect, singing together.
Probably impossible, if I understand the comments below emphasizing on this band being somewhat commercial. Not exactly Thome Yorke cup of tea.
Although, in a sense, nothing published escapes commercial, doesn't it?
Like it, yes, but when hearing it everywhere, it starts to take some of the shine off......
