So happy it truly went to a worthy recipient with fewer skeletons in the closet than old what's his name...Proves that money and balderdash won't win the prize.

The only thing that is true is the present moment; the rest is just story.
I don't really understand your last sentence. The outrage (limited tho it is at the moment) really only began when the target list started to include US citizens. But can you check a passport from 30,000'? Americans aren't any more human than anyone else. The power to kill anyone anywhere for any reason without consequences should not be in the hands of one man. I think that we mostly were not aware of what the gov was doing until that point. I totally agree with you.

Yeah, assassinations ordered by the president, disclosed to no one, answerable to no one and for any goddamned reason he sees fit only happen to those people. The ones that deserve it. As far as we know anyway. Do I personally have to be in the crosshairs before I object? Might be just a little too late by then. And what if I acknowledge the humanity of people who aren't US citizens? Is that permissible, or is it grounds to take me out so long as it happens somewhere else? Dissin' the man should be on the agenda in a couple years under a fancy name like the bill to "Solidify national security and opinions and identify those who question or disparage elected officials"

Hello Orwell!Gates: European Aversion to War a Danger to PeaceUS Defense Secretary Slams 'Demilitarization of Europe'Speaking today at the National Defense University, US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates condemned European nations in general for their refusal to contribute larger portions of their population to NATO.
Gates warned that Europe’s aversion to war was doing serious harm to assorted US military operations with NATO backing, and was therefore “an impediment” to the lasting peace he envisions those wars eventually creating.
Gates’ comments appeared to be directed in part at the Netherlands, who saw its government collapse this weekend after NATO pressure to continue its commitment to the Afghan War led antiwar members of the government to withdraw.
He said that the “demilitarization of Europe” was a long-term, systemic problem for NATO, and that the European members of NATO needed to increase their military spending to NATO mandated levels. US Allies in Europe Begin to Pull BackLast Friday five NATO governments made it known that they want American nuclear weapons removed from their territory. They include the Benelux three, together with Germany and Norway. The five reportedly will ask that all the European NATO governments endorse their position before a meeting in New York in May.
The Dutch foreign minister described this as an attempt to seize the opportunity provided by President Barack Obama’s recent call for a de-nuclearized world.
