I wondered if you'd heard of it or not...but that is the common denominator between these 2 guys. I should just ask one of them where they learned that. Maybe their parents brought it in from elsewhere. Actually, one of them is more from the Bethlehem area, which is closer to Allentown.

I've noticed that it must be a regional thing in the area of Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh....for men to call women "miss" instead of their names, sometimes.
And this is different than when you would formally refer to someone in public (e.g., "Excuse me, miss, you dropped your hat"). This is someone who knows you well, and instead of saying, "Thanks, Alexandra" they would say, "Thanks, miss."
I know two people here in town who moved here from the Pixburg area, who do that.

I just moved to Pittsburgh from California and I have loved it. I don't have the 5 hour commute to and from work anymore and the people and town has been superb...I love it and will probably stay.
