I have in the possession of my greedy little hands an Apple iPod Touch (actually, it's the one I won right here at Radio Paradise). I have it running the latest software and also the current Radio Paradise App software.

I find that when I am listening to Radio Paradise while the iPod is running on battery power only, that after about a half hour the music jumps back to the first song in the download for a brief second. Then it stops completely. When I look at the screen, I get the following message: "No Network - A network connection is required. Please verify your network settings and try again - OK" (see the attached image).

You will notice that my network strength bars are missing.

I close the app. Now it shows my network bars back to full strength. I open the RP app, and it begins playing normally again. Until about a half hour, and then it repeats what happens above.

BUT, if I have the iPod connected to a power source, this problem doesn't seem to happen.

Anyone else experience this?

It might be me, but the lay out seems different, all the fonts are bigger, and in effect I see less of the site on my screen. I already checked my monitor settings, but I don't think it's the culprit.

However, as facebook looks different too, what should I check?

Edit: browser is IE8 (that I downloaded recently)

If you press the CTRL key and use the scroll wheel of your mouse it should make the sizes smaller/bigger until you find the one you want.

If you have no mouse wheel then use the + - buttons on the keypad.

Its not changed at all here.  Some versions of IE had an option to change font sizes - maybe have a play with your preferences.

I think lately the Now Playing is loading faster than a month or two ago but the bouncing still happens.

I don't get it any more - Safari 4.0.3  The text inside the box takes a little while to load, but it doesn't bounce.

It just died again. I can't get it reignited, so I guess I'm going to have to switch to another stream, as least for today.

Edit: Tried again 10 minutes later and got it back. But it sure is being cranky!

Edit Redux: Dropped again.

Me too. I believe I've mentioned it in the Bug Reports forum before, but it has been slow loading for me (in Safari) ever since this new design of the site was launched.

Using Firefox 3.0.7, there is a jumpy character to RP pages that becomes annoying after awhile.

When loading any page here at RP, the page jumps up and down as it is rendered, sometimes over a period of five to ten seconds.  This becomes problematic as one hovers over an intended link, and it turns into a game of Whack-A-Mole trying to hit the proper place on the page as it jumps.

It turns out the problem is traced to the "Now Playing" window, which frequently resizes itself, moving everything below it on the page up or down.  It will resize downward (larger) if a song title is wider than the Now-Playing box width, or upwards (smaller) if such a song title falls off the most recently played four titles. Pages also jump up and down if "Now Playing" is slow to populate, as it will be over slower links, or if the Innernets is languid.

I would suggest a fixed size for this booger: six lines, one for "Now Playing:", and five for song info.  If artist+title is too wide, you get one less title.

Does this happen in other browsers?  I think it happens in Chrome and under Linux too.

It happens in Safari as well, when the song and artist wrap down to two lines and extend the "Now Playing" box. I've just gotten into the habit of letting the entire page load before I do anything.

Hmmm. Dang.  You're right.  I was thinking of the div - quote coding in the reply function.
a separate paragraph copied and pasted then manually blockquoted works - except other than the indent, there's nothing to indicate quote - no marks, no shading, etc. So blockquote does works when done by hand - just that it doesn't have a button, nor is very 'pretty' - as it apparently isn't coded in the CSS.

Ah, but if I style blockquote in CSS, I could use it rather than div class="quote", and then the blockquote function in the post editor would work.  I'll do that when I get a chance.

EDIT: blockquote is now styled. You may need to Ctrl-R the page to reload the style sheet.

And EDIT again:

I've added Blockquote to the toolbar (next to numbered list). However, it seems to affect the entire message rather than just a highlighted section.

I'll try one quick fix for that, then I gotta run.

Weird. It affects the entire message, and I don't even see it in the HTML edit window.  Oh well. No more time for this now.

A way to set something apart, like if I cut and paste a quote where I've already typed out an attribution

But yeah the div quote thing that styles it like other quotes here would be great too but overkill for what I would use it for.
  • I'll just keep on using bullet lists
  • It accomplishes the same thing
  • And looks kind of important

div class="quote"  should do that.  Let's try:
Testing...

Hi all, My last itunes "upgrade" has made for some odd changes to my internet radio listening. RadioParadise is only available in 128kbps, no longer having a selection of lower bandwidth to choose from, and the titles of the tracks are no longer displayed. That part really annoys me. Has anyone else experienced this?

The 128k-only thing was Apple's decision, not ours. I've complained, but they're unlikely to restore the lower-bitrate links. All of those choices are still available on our "Listen" page (go to our front page & click the "Listen" tab).

I'm not aware of a problem with song title displays, but I probably don't have the very latest version of iTunes (I have 8.2.1 with OS X 10.5.7)
