People listen attentively
I mean about future calamity
I used to think the idea was obsolete
Until I heard the old man stamping his feet
This is a place where eternally
Fire is applied to the body
Teeth are extruded and bones are ground
And baked into cakes which are passed around
In the afterlife
You could be headed for the serious strife
Now you make the scene all day
But tomorrow there'll be Hell to pay
Beauty, talent, fame, money, refinement , job skill and brain
And all the things you try to hide
Will be revealed on the other side.
Now the D and A and the M and the N and the A
And the T and the I-O-N
Loose your face
Loose your name
And get fitted for a suit of flames.

Very cool this follows a Cake song. Same time frame, similar sound.
Jockey full of bourbonesque
They recorded this album live, with a single microphone, in the ballroom of a beautiful old mansion (in New Orleans?) IIRC, the album notes mentioned that they were rockin it so hard on this track that the large crystal chandelier in the room was swaying enough to be able to be heard at the end of the track, after the music stops. (A part not usually played on the radio, but easily heard on the CD).
two songs in a row, skip skip ,. . . .
the segue from CAKE's Sheep Go To Heaven, priceless.
People used to look at us funny when anything from this album popped up in our rotation. Always noticed the party got livelier though. Great times.

Right up there with Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet and They Might Be Giants as far as Nerds Having Fun Rocking Out goes, in my book! Great to CRANK IT and bop around the room to!
Preach!
Great!! I never heard of them before RP, now I like several of their tunes. That is why we come here. Thanx RP!
This one makes me dance in my chair every time.
Of course this tune was part of "Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam" (the musical episode from the final season of Lucifer). Hard to do it justice, but they gave it a good showing. :)
This reminds me of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Good stuff!
This band... This album!
For the lyrics alone this gets an 8. For the awesome throwback music one more bump up. Maybe not godlike but so damn excellent.

This band always reminded me of an early 1980's band called 3Mustaphas3!
Chapel Thrill in the house, SCOTS and the zippers
Always loved the horn solos in this one.

This song is just unadularated kitsch fun :o)

this is a pretty cool song, but the drumming is too scattered for me (maybe that's what makes it interesting...)
This is a cover of that I Want To Be Like You song from the Jungle Book, right?

Also, not to be a grammar nazi, but shouldn't the word have been "extracted" instead of "extruded"? (I know that's how it is in the song, I'm just saying).
They would have been "extruded" if they were "pushed out" or "forced through a die" (e.g., pastry bag, frosting gun) in order to be used with the ground bones "and baked into cakes", which is what I believe the lyrics allude to. After all, they probably have some powerful kitchen accessories in hell. I imagine the teeth would have to be "extracted" first, though.

I've just finished reading Iain M Banks' latest doorstopper, "Surface detail", and that's all about Hells, envisaged as virtual worlds in which inmates are treated to tortures more excruciating than even Hieronymous Bosch imagined. If you've a strong stomach, it's well worth a read.
This tune still cracks me up. Just darn fun!
agreed.

Funny - the comments about having to be of retirement age to appreciate this song...
Or maybe someone is made uncomfortable by the lyrics?
If anyone should be uncomfortable, its those gettin' on in years ;-)
So maybe that's not a good analysis?
