Find a corner where I can hide
Silent footsteps crowding me
Sudden darkness but I can see
No sugar tonight in my coffee
No sugar tonight in my tea
No sugar to stand beside me
No sugar to run with me
Dat'n-doo-dow-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow
In the silence of her mind
Quiet movements where I can find
Grabbing for me with her eyes
Now I'm falling from her skies
No sugar tonight in my coffee
No sugar tonight in my tea
No sugar to stand beside me
No sugar to run with me
Dat'n-doo-dow-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow
Jocko says, "Yes" and I believe him
When we talk about the things I say
She hasn't got the faith or the guts to leave him
When they're standing in each other's way
You're tripping back now to places you've been to
You wonder what you're gonna find
You know you've been wrong but it won't be long
Before you leave 'em all far behind
'Cause it's the new Mother Nature taking over
It's the new Splendid lady come to call
It's the new Mother Nature taking over
She's gettin' us all, she's gettin' us all
Jocko said, "No" when I came back last time
It's looking like I lost a friend
No use callin' 'cause the sky is fallin'
And I'm getting pretty near the end
A smoke-filled room in a corner basement
The situation must be right
A bag of goodies and a bottle of wine
We're gonna get it on right tonight
'Cause it's the new Mother Nature taking over
It's the new Splendid Lady come to call
It's the new Mother Nature taking over
She's gettin' us all, she's getting' us all

Not in Canada but certainly in terms of international recognition.
OK, let's not push it. :-) But yes, if there is a BTO tune you like, suggest to the DJ through the Submissions tab.
Artfully crafted pop of the highest order with tasty guitar and drums.
It's the new Mother Nature taking over....
(from Winnipeg)
BURTON CUMMINGS
Thanks for the Canadian memories.
Graham
Somewhere in Kuwait.
"Blue Collar" had some tasty guitar pickin'.
How about some BTO?

I highly recommend Randy's show. If you love the history of rock 'n roll and contemporary popular music.
How about some BTO?
Speakers Up!
Now there is a compliment.
Love this song....could NOT stand American Woman....although we did a baton routine to that in high school! ha
Hilarious!
The Guess Who has a fantastic catalog of stuff that fits right in with the openminded RP crowd. I'd suggest stuff from the Road Food album as a start.
I think that is great advice !
"Dat'n-doo-dow-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow-dow
Dat'n-doo-dow"
Yes indeed....definitely defines an era.
My first was Grateful Dead. I win.
Who's that on the radio?
Guess Who.
Who?
No, Guess Who.
What?
No, not what. Who. Guess Who.
I'm trying to guess. I can't think who, just tell me.
Guess Who.
Go to hell.
Like the Beatles' "Day in the Life" this is two songs - one by Burt and one by Randy - that happened to be in the same key so they smashed them together. New Mother Nature is Burt's part, IIRC.

This song also takes me back to high school, but there's another story connected to it. When my daughter was an older child (she's now 26), this song came on the radio, and I said something like, "Oh, it's the Guess Who." She said, "Who?" I said (and had to explain) that The Guess Who is the name of the band!

I'm not sure if very many bands who were popular during the late 1960s and early '70s would really be playing very enjoyably thirty years later - especially at a casino in Lake Tahoe.
That was my thinking when I watched Townsend and Daltrey at the Super Bowl halftime four years ago. They tried but you got the feeling that Daltrey had forgotten to sing and Townsend just didn't have much energy anymore. I had to explain to a friend in his late 20s that in its prime, the band was one of the most exciting live acts around.
Some bands can still do it. I hear the Stones are like that.

Never understood why these guys ever got popular.

Really good bridges in any song can send it over the moon for me. This bridge is definitely one of the best ones. (Another one that gets me is the bridge in the middle of Indigo Girls 'Ghost'.)

WOW!

Or maybe Talisman.

A version played at a winery near me sans Cummings and Bachman. Another original member has rights to the name by accident.
Would be up for seeing a reunion with BC and RB, meanwhile I am planning on picking up Running Back Thru Canada.
We're gonna get it on right tonight.
You may be south of Neanderthal, but your heart is apparently north of Buffalo. ;-)

Yep, yep!
Rated it an 8, but was probably taking the entire album as a whole. Love this collection.

That's Gary Peterson. He was trained as a jazz drummer and I always thought that he added a level of sophistication to The Guess Who's music.
Well, he kicks some serious ass!!!!!
Nice.

I guess it really wasn't much of a choice really for most people there, hmmm do I see Guess Who or Nixon?

I enjoy the Guess Who... but you gotta admit, that is one dorky looking album cover!
Maybe it's too commercial/oldies station. I hate to think it's just because a cool song being played by the most uncool looking band ever is irreconcilable.

The Guess Who and Burton Cummings are underrated for their contribution to rock and roll.
Randy Bachman on guitar.
Went on to form Bachman Turner Overdrive (BTO).
