First thing I noticed, too.  But it's pleasant.

You mean Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan; the order matters.

I may have to upgrade this weird eclectic world music song that I do not understand at all from 7 to 8.
Bad pop, in any language, is bad pop.

This was bad pop...

Well, this song motivated me to create a login for RP, even tho I've been a loyal listener for over five years now. I love this song, and was surprised to hear it on RP. It is a sufi song and like all sufi songs is focused on the mystical. I could go on but, then Wikipedia probably says it a lot better: (click here) Here are the lyrics, translated directly from the music video:
(repeat verse) Bulla! I know not who I am Bulla! I know not who I am Bulla! I know not who I am Bulla! I know not who I am Nor am I the believer in the mosque, Nor am I in the rituals of the infidel, Nor am I the pure or the impure. Nor am I inherent in the vedas, Nor am I present in the intoxicants, Nor am I lost nor corrupt. Nor am I in union nor grief, Nor am I intrinsic in the pure and impure Nor am I of water nor of the world, Nor am I of fire nor air. (repeat verse) Nor am I an Arab, nor Lahori, Nor am I Indian, nor Peshauri, Nor am I Hindu, nor Turk Peshawri, Nor did I create the differences of faith, Nor did I create adam and eve, Nor did I seek name for myself Beginning and end I know just the self, Do not acknowledge duality, There's none wiser than I, Who is this Bulla Shah? (repeat verse) Nor am I moses or the Pharaoh, I am not asleep nor am I wakeful, Nor am I fire nor the wind, I do not stay in Nadaun, I am not in inertia nor in travel, Who is this Bulla Shah? (repeat verse) (fade)
What a fantastic song! I've loved it for years. Everyone should watch the video on You Tube--it makes the song incredibly meaningful (if you don't speak Rabbi's language).
This is so bad it's off the scale
As an indo that sometimes "pushes out the jive more than he brings in the love (See Mr. Burns; the episode where Homer gets fat and wears the mumu)" with those 'Slims, this song is cool and eye-opening. Read up about Sufism. Beautiful faith. And that's a Hindu saying that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sufism
Is this the long lost Indian cousin of Eros Ramazotti ?
Radio Ecclectic
I like it.
Beautiful. Outstanding lyrics. This does not have to be a zero-sum game. So, yes, do bring on the Arab music. Once upon I listened to some synthesis music from Ethopia--it had a strong Black American Blues influence--that was just amazing. Now where is that cassette.... What was the name again?
AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. I cannot recall a more annoying song.
pretty good. I'll leave it at that as anything else seems lacking after reading the translated lyrics.
this is good stuff you'll hear no where else, Ok maybe Morocco, but I'd rather hear this new interesting stuff instead of tired David Byrne songs!!
This is a nice song but there are so many beautiful arabic songs that to say ohh and ah over this one is not really justified. I was married to a Morracan lady who would be able to translate the song in real time (a real talent for actually). Their poetry and use of words are really impressive.

Wow this is great stuff... and Bulleh Shah was quite the man...(click here)
I have to admit when I heard this I wanted to say some stupid remark on what he is saying ... something about IED's or goats or something to be a dink. forget the language barrier, this song is great. the singer has a passion that trancends the verbiage. think of it as Operatic. would you see La Traviata, etc, and enjoy it as much if it were sung in English, or your native tongue?
Being Punjabi, this is right in line with what Guru Nanak, first guru of Sikhs said: "There is no muslim, there is no Hindu"
Congrats to RP for throwing a bit more 'world music' into the mix. Though this tune doesn't stir my entrails it is a nice change, and the lyrics (thanks to the poster who posted them) are intriguing.

I'm giving it a 10 just to mess with the people who loathe this song. I can't believe I haven't heard this till now. It's pleasant enough. Certainly doesn't warrant the intense scorn poured on it here. Maybe it's just played too much.

An astute assessment. Unlike the simpletons who can't say anything more than 'I don't like it'. Maybe some should take a moment to figure out why the song might have appealed to RP, especially in the context of other songs in the playlist accompanying it. Or is that too much to ask of those who style themselves 'eclectic radio listeners' ?

Absolutely! I'd rather hear things I don't like once in a while than things which bore me constantly. This is different. That alone is a good thing. I once tried a wine described as 'inoffensive'. A better description would have been 'boring'. No 'inoffensive wine or music!
