We made love until we cried and cried ourselves to laughter
Laughed until we realise our hearts were struck were fear
How in just a moments time could one see for ever after
I gently lie beside of you and dream away my tears

Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine
Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine

Funny things you learn from your mama, like the way to throw your head back when your

Swallowing pills
Funny things you learn from your papa, like when you're talking you just can't keep your

Hands still

But that was now and this is then
It never lasts for long
How I miss the good old days; but I'm so glad they're gone

Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine
Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine

I'd like to spend the time that you would like to spend with me
So that you could help me out with my dependancy
'Cause I'm hoplessly addicted, addicted to your sorrow
Makes me never wanna work, beg or borrow

Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine
Won't you let me treat you kind
We're gonna burn to shine

Someone down the list mentions Brown Sugar. Although there's a bunch of Stone's songs that fit the description. Also the "ooh la la" backing vocals are straight off "School of Rock"!

Good tune!

He's a pretty good guitar player.

He's coming this summer in CAEN - FRANCE to a French festival called BEAUREGARD

Found myself dancin' to this. bumping 7 -> 8.
Such a fun song.
Loving this on a Friday morning! {#Bananajam}{#Drummer}{#Guitarist}
Better than most I've heard from him.  Must...keep...mind...open.
Saw him and his group last summer, a very fine fine show! Outdoors, Central Oregon, and a nice night! {#Bananajam}
WICKED   : )
I like.  If only because Ben sounds like he woke up for this one.
Ben Harper can still go suck an egg.
How about a duet with bonnie raitt
Sardonic bubblegum Ben Harper. Me like.

I agree about the retro feel, but I disagree about the song. I like it.
I really love Ben Harper, but this is pretty far from his best song.  I always skip it when it comes up on my player...
this's got that grand ol' Friday I'm in Love feel.. steamy!
...I'm addicted to your sorrow...

{#Yes}
Where did you get that hat, where did you get that hat...?
Guess Ben and Laura are really quits, now.  He plays a mean Weissenborn, in any event..

LOL- YES. I guess it was! Doesn't seem that long ago subjectively, but I suppose it was.

I was going to post now, after hearing this for the second time, that the beginning reminded me of ZZ Top.
Billy Jack?!?!  Now that was a while ago ...
Never heard this before somehow, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the album cover! Reminds me of Billy Jack for some reason ....
Here in the low lands this reminds me quite a lot of Herman Brood, although I can't remember the specific song title right now. It's not a cover, is it?
This is much smoother though, i.e. rather tame in comparison.
This was after Joanna and before Laura .. some interesting in-between words in this song.
I can dance to this. {#Dancingbanana}
Ben Harper never fails to amuse the musical me, and yes, all the classic rock tunes mentioned below show up here...tribute? Ben having fun? Kind of a silly rock song, but such fun!
I had not heard this before....  and from the date of the album... Im behind in my Ben Harper listening.  Time to catch up. {#Surprised}
For some reason I want to hear Kiss doing a great cover of this.
Gene Simmonds would rip with this stuff.

First 3 listens, ok... had enough.

This always reminds me of Larry Underwood's "Baby can you dig your man." Can't say why, especially since i've never actually heard the song...

I agree. I just don't "get" Ben Harper, but I'll get my chance as he is an RP staple. plutodazed wrote:

that's funny considering Harper sings with more soul and passion than most artists I know, ever seen him live??

exactly what I was thinking. He can have quite a unique, interesting sound at times. But when he does straight-up R&R like this, it just bores me.
No mistaking the opening licks on this one!

Can't explain why, but this song makes me laugh. Maybe I'm just in a silly mood.
Never understood all the hype over this guy. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.
I'm certainly a fan of Ben's but have never been into this tune. 5.

I thought this was an unreleased alternate take by Skynyrd. Dead on, dos. Doesn't make the song bad, just not original.

Of course, as I hear the song change, Ramones does the trick too.

I think Ben has a intoxicating voice, but the music isn't my favorite. I am trying though, the cd is in my car.

Not lame, I disagree. This is cool. I hear what you mean. It's those "voor de tel" accents that do this IMHO. HB used that extensively. Listen to "Never be clever". Other bands/artists like to use this too. E.g. Aerosmith in "Chip away the stone" (which is a great song BTW).

Yes, now you mention it, I do! Wild Places was (I believe) a hit over here first and totally unexpected. I also remember Duncan Browne saying in an interview, he was such a lazy man. Maybe that explains why he remained a one hit wonder. Not that strange, you only remember Herman Brood as a person. He was truly a one of a kind character. Not to be repeated, I guess.

Yeah, Johray, I think you will be happy with your giving yourself another chance to reconsider Ben Harper. A very strong artist, with good, solid albums - excellent music with interesting lyrics. As a live performer, Harper is one of the best I have ever seen.

Unfortunately RP rejected ALL my HB uploads I could, however, send you an mp3, or two, in case you're interested.

Nah, they\'ll always be albums no matter what format it\'s on. An album is just a collection like a photo album. You can still say record store too because they sell recordings. They don\'t sell record albums though :roll:
This song ROCKS. Unfortunately, the rest of the album most definitely does NOT rock. So for this song, for the rest of the album. And I\'m showing my age by calling it an \"album\" aren\'t I?
