You're not my eater, I'm not your food
Love you for God, love you for the Mother
Eat me in the space within my heart
Love you for God, love you for the Mother

Mother fountain or live or not at all

The most level, sunken chapel
Love you for God, love you for the Mother

All's there to love, only love

God bless the 1990’s trip-hop music such as this. Perhaps the soundtrack for the 2090’s space exploration… and the “oldies” sounding better than the “new stuff!”
Such a great song
Impeccable - tracks 8, 9 and 10 on this album are astounding.
Nothing like a trip-hop legend to start my morning.
So AWESOME!!!!
Massive Attack always transports me to another world. With the addition of Elizabeth Fraser's voice, this album will always be one of my all-time favorites.
Saw MA back in summer of 2019 in San Francisco for the 21st anniversary of the release of this album— actually took my 20 -year old son. I was a bit concerned that the show would be faux musicians — chained to a merciless dub track that would surely suck the life out of the “live” part of the show. The show was incredible. No dub track, real, live musicians, an extremely well tuned sound, and thematic visuals that clearly learned the art of the musical visual story from Pink Floyd. After a couple of days reflection, my son and I both amazingly agreed that it was the best show either of us has seen.
I thought this was Morcheeba until I looked...
Im gonna bankrupt. Was whining recently where to find good music and what to buy and found RP :)

It's Manfred Mann's Earth Band (which is not "real early" in terms of his career) - I'm pretty sure the sample is from "Tribute".  Manfred Mann (the person) is credited on this album.

Handpicked and reused. No contradiction there ;)
Bjork and Massive Attack, some great sequence

{#Dance} "Outstanding"
My third child "danced" in his mother's womb to this track (and the rest of the album).  One of his and my favourite albums / bands.

One of my favorite Massive Attack tunes {#Roflol}
No comment other than Crap .. Boom Boom Boom ... only wish it will self implode.

It also works very well in a train, looking out. Especially when you start with Angel while the train leaves the station.
Unbelievably Godlike - but I repeat myself
I'm sitting here with my local meds, enjoying this ethereal ear-trip with my brand-spanking new Harman/Kardon SoundSticks, with sub-woofer definitely penetrating far more than my room, and ... lovin' it well!  Thanks!
Timeless

This song makes me want to dance around with my eyes closed.
yes!!
A masterpiece of trip-hop.  This cd wil be dug up 100,000 years from now and they will exclaim, in their way, holy shit I wish I was there.
Like the "Autumn Leaves" - influenced bass line.  Trippy too...

Where's my copy of this cd?  The rip is bad and I have to run it again.  But I can't find the CD. Not in the wall.  Did you borrow it? That's ok if you did, I just need it back for 5 minutes.

Sorry, dude, I totally forgot.  I'll drop it off at the post office this afternoon.

I agree 100%. This cd was in my player and I listened to it before bed every night for about 2 months straight. It helped me through a very tough time in my life & I love it still to this day.

That is one nasty-assed album cover.  {#Rolleyes}  {#Puke}

I had this (album) on during my ride to work today and my wife said "What are you listening to? You are boring." I don't think it is quite that bad but I wouldn't buy it again.

What makes us accept harsh, generalized criticisms from those we love? What complete bullshit. I'm separated from my wife for this very reason. I'm no longer going to accept any random element of my personality being criticized. Don't like my taste in shirts? Deal with it. Your opinion of me is none of my business. If you can't stop yourself, then I'll be moving on...

Perhaps you married the wrong person.  My wife loves this album.

I like this song but overall this CD leaves me rather indifferent.

This is what codeine cough syrup would sound like if it were music. Not that that is a bad thing, in and of itself.

"Inertia Creeps" from this record at extremely high volume levels induces instant orgasms. Try it.
You should have showed her the cover. No CD with a stag beetle beastie on it can ever be considered boring. I mean just look at 'er. Wizzuvv_oz wrote:

All of them, actually. Seriously, IMO it's far too calculated and "produced" (as opposed to performed) for its own good. Blue Lines and Protection (and its brilliant dub by Mad Professor) are way better.
Regarding 'Blue Lines' I'm absolutely with you.
What. a. tune.
It's decent, but a bit sleep-inducing at this time of day.
One of my favorite albums of all time here.

Yeah, but it's really great lazy brainless annoying drone crap.
Oh god, here we go with the "painfully long drawn out female vocals and neurotic drum loop" set. Don't mind while I listen to something else for the next 4 songs.
as for the previous Bjork's track.... I think at mezzanine as the greatest M.A. album without doubts at all... mmm... this made me think that maybe the 1998 was the real last good year for the "trip-hop" movement....
C H I L L
A perfect segue from Björk's "All is full of love!"
saw these guys in concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Worst concert I've seen the past 5 years. This stuff just doesn't translate so well into a live, albeit large, venue.
Is there a song on this album that isn't an 8 or above?

Ah, great song from one of the best records for ever!
Aw darn. When I saw it on the playlist, I thought "Oh my God, someone covered the Beasts of Bourbon?!". Alas, no.

Just doesn't seem to work for me - armed only with a cup of tea. Something substantially stronger required I suspect - to enjoy this track properly?
