Yes, that movie will be entitled Bill's 14.

Best CD ever from Thievery Corporation! ♥
THIS, coming after "Boulevard de la Mort" by Alpha Blondygenius segue! I know, I know; happens daily here on RP...we're so doggone spoiled -- THANK YOU!
Loving this!

nothing against this but i believe it would soar live...rather restrained sounding

Mirror Conspiracy is a fantastic album.

Thievery Corp is great stuff, always gets me interested. I'm swaying a bit right now (and been sober for 38 years!!)
Hi Hum…I vote this to go straight to phone hold music, and then used sparingly!

These guys know how to lay down some good grooves.
Sounds like a good song for a high school stage band to cover.
That's twice in three days I thought I was listening to Fat Freddy's Drop from NZ. Very cool

I love Thievery's groovy stuff like this, of which there is a lot.  But I can't enjoy their shows because only the first third is this stuff.  Second third is reggae, which is ok, but not what I listen to Thievery for.  And then the final third is rap, which I hate.  sigh...

They actually have shifted their shows, it used to be that way, I've seen them 2x in the past couple of years and no rap except for maybe 1 song, and maybe 2-3 reggae songs. May depend on the tour and where they are too - their talented and can do quite a range of music.

Huh? How?
REG: Right. You're in. Listen. The only people we hate more than the Romans are the fucking Judean People's Front.

P.F.J.: Yeah...

JUDITH: Splitters.

P.F.J.: Splitters...

FRANCIS: And the Judean Popular People's Front.

P.F.J.: Yeah. Oh, yeah. Splitters. Splitters...

LORETTA: And the People's Front of Judea.

P.F.J.: Yeah. Splitters. Splitters...

REG: What?

LORETTA: The People's Front of Judea. Splitters.

REG: We're the People's Front of Judea!

LORETTA: Oh. I thought we were the Popular Front.

REG: People's Front! C-huh.

FRANCIS: Whatever happened to the Popular Front, Reg?

REG: He's over there.

P.F.J.: Splitter!
sorta tedious
For Love of Money, O'Jays.... just sayin' ...
Great track .. I just wish they'd done one more take with the horns tuned slightly better. The high chord they're punching is a little sour. Still, had me bopping in my chair.

Different tempo, different beat, different song entirely, though these guys were obviously influenced by Curtis and a lot of other soul artists of the 1970s - which is not a bad thing.  Anyhow, the song title is "Freddie's Dead".
Fred is dead, that is what I said. Curtis Mayfield
love TC!

It probably is composed of loops, and certainly is repetitive, but I expect that it's written to be danced to, not to be listened to at a desk. Most dance music is repetitive, of necessity. IIRC TC come out of the club scene, and in my local record store their stuff is filed under Dance. Remember that TC comprises just two guys using samplers, so they have to use loops.
This time they've gone too far,  This time, the gone too far.  This time, they've gone too far!

Completely agree!

Caught them at Lolla this past year.

They had everyone moving in one massive kickin' groovy dance fest.

This starts out as a 7 or 8 for me.   After 2 minutes it quickly drops points.   By the end, I'm rating it a 2 or 3 — except I never get to the end because of PSD.
This post apparently contained an image that was dragged into the post editor. Sorry, but any text contained in the post after this point has been lost.

It definitely has that '70s groove going on, much like War and Average White Band, as mentioned earlier, also reminiscent of something by Curtis Mayfield.

I think the horns remind you of War around '71 or '72 (Slippin' into Darkness).

Theme song for Ocean's 15...... was there a 14?

"THAT'S why this song has got the funk!  It's Thievery Corporation!"  (Of course, silly boy.)

Just another wordplay band title related to sampling...like the Kleptones.

Surely you can come up with a few more.

And I do like this tune, and most of their stuff. My children can't figure me out {#Stupid}

C'mon now.  Modern multi-national corporations are not that bad.  Many are more responsive than governments of rich, western democracies.  Activists shareholders can grind a modern company to standstill.  Governments can respond with wire-tappings, arbitrary detentions, water cannons, mace and bayonets.

These guys consistently crank out great tunes every album.
{#Propeller} NICE TUNE

This is so cool - thanks Bill.
oh yeah
Thievery Corporation remind me of the famous Emma Goldman quote: "if I can't dance, it's not my revolution". Radical politics and hoppin' toons - what a combo! 8 from the Nottingham jury.

So.  Is it true that fans of Naomi Klein are also fans of Thievery Corporation?
