I know you may not want to see me
On your way down from the clouds
Would you hear me if I told you
That my heart is with you now
She's only happy in the sun
She's only happy in the sun
Did you find what you were after?
The pain and the laughter brought you to your knees
But if the sun sets you free, sets you free
You'll be free indeed, Indeed
She's only happy in the sun
She's only happy in the sun
Every time I hear you laughing, I hear you laughing
It makes me cry
Like the story of life, of your life
Is hello, goodbye
Shes only happy in the sun
Shes only happy in the sun
On your way down from the clouds
Would you hear me if I told you
That my heart is with you now
She's only happy in the sun
She's only happy in the sun
Did you find what you were after?
The pain and the laughter brought you to your knees
But if the sun sets you free, sets you free
You'll be free indeed, Indeed
She's only happy in the sun
She's only happy in the sun
Every time I hear you laughing, I hear you laughing
It makes me cry
Like the story of life, of your life
Is hello, goodbye
Shes only happy in the sun
Shes only happy in the sun

Can't really explain why, but hearing this today it just grabbed me and made me give it an 8 and go buy the CD on Amazon!
Truly beautiful tune. Ben can do no wrong.

Not a very good song from Ben Harper....and the album is a big let-down too. If you want to check out a great album from Ben Harper, check out Fight for your mind or Welcome to the cruel world.

Not his best! ....most of his other music is much better@!
Nice Cover...Not so nice vocals.
Instrumentals only please. 3 -
Haven't heard this one in a while. Thanks for bringing it back.
Very first thought was "What a pile of crap!"....
Very first thought was "Cat Stevens"......and not his best.

Oh what an insult. He wrote some good stuff

Thanks for the laugh.
I always wondered what all the fuss was about with this guy.

In the sun.
Wait a minute, where is she only happy?
music to slit your throat to....
Holy crap, I was just about to post how much this sounded like Cat Stevens. I guess it's true!!!
Good song!

Cat Stevens? Phil Collins??
It's over - now I'M happy!
Nothing better than voting and watching that average rating follow you direction.
I love RP because everynow and then I feel that my vote really counts. Hopefully I will get that feeling after GA US Congress Seat 4 runoff on Tuesday.

hahahahahahahahahahaha -- oh, %$#@
Hah! LOL - what an excellent way to put it - never heard that before.
As for Ben Harper - I sometimes feel that his studio work lacks power, but his live performances are some of the most wonderful I've ever been lucky enough to see. He's just so damn earnest! I find it very infectious.
Very much looking forward to catching him at the Greek in August!

Only thing that could make is song better is Adam Sandler singing it on SNL.
That would be funny. Oh I forgot, SNL isn't funny any more.
My personal opinion is that 95% of Ben Harper's work is indistinguishable. The other 5% is ok because I can at least tell the songs apart from each other. This one is one of the 95%.

I keep thinking as I listen to BH's music that I must be missing something. For me, it's his overwrought vocals that I just can't handle. I'll keep trying--he shows up enough on RP.
Six months later and lots of BH listened to...still a 3, imo.

Another boring Dave Matthews track. Oh wait...
Sad beauty!

This song sounds like it's stuck.
What about when it rains? What then huh?
Huh?

Agreed. This guys voice is very annoying,

The lyrics are just what I needed hear. This is one of those songs for me I guess. Takes me back to another time and place. On my list for sure.
not bad, i guess. his voice is a little too androgynous for me.

Pretty fitting song title considering the cover art. ;-) (had to have been quite the photo shoot...ow!)
Ben continues to make good music which, while comparable to a number of other musicians, also stands quite well on its own, thank you. Likeable tune.
He is GREAT live! Specially when he plays Burn One Down.
Love Ben.
very good song...so is the album. not sure i agree on the "commercialism" slights...fight for yo' mind and welcome may be better on one front, but people (artists) change and move on...that should be allowed, eh? and i agree nothin' beats Ben live, no matter what he's playin'...
Should be followed by Only Happy When it Rains (Garbage when they weren't, well, you know)
A wonderful atmosphere and arrangement. I love the subtle and disciplined way in which they build it up and that violin sound which is much like the one in Strawberry Fields (maybe my favourite Beatles song). I've heard it in quite a few ballads, lately.

I don't know, there's something pleasant and springy about this song that fits this false thaw we're having

i have his other albums and stopped from buying this because of his slow descent into commercialism. this songs seems relatively commercial, but it's also pleasant. still have to go with his cover of 'the drugs don't work' over it, though.

Ben Harper has such depth and such range as a musician that it's hard to lose. Fight for your mind is great, but there's not a bad one out there.

I personally think that Fight For Your Mind is his best album. But if you're going to just get one album, you might think about getting the Live From Mars concert album. It gives you a decent sampling (though the 2nd CD is very chill/slow) of his work.

What's the best Ben Harper album out there..?
Thank you for suggesting the \"Don\'t Let Me Down\" comparison. It was trigegring something in my head, but now I know what it was.
Ben continues to sound like Cat Stevens to me, but I value the Cat\'s phrasing and expression and strength. More Cat Stevens, please!
What\'s the best Ben Harper album out there..?
Ben Harper, I like,
This song, I don\'t.

Really a perfect song for his voice. I find others of his just don\'t work for me; but not this one.

I'll second that!
I\'m not a big Ben Harper fan, but this song is pretty good. Very sincere vocal style with well-placed background vocals. A solid 6.

From the moment I heard him on NPR in like 1992, I am perpetually impressed by each thing he does. As this song may not be quite on the same level of some of his other songs, it only gets a "9."
I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!! I saw a concert with him and Alana Davis on Reverb (HBO) and was HOOKED!!! bought all cd's, seen him 3 times!!! we are truly not worthy!
 :(
Ben has a lot of songs other than this

Yeah, a little. Harper's voice sounds pretty weak compared to what Stevens was capable of doing.

This is nice. More often than not I find myself enjoying the Ben Harper tunes I hear on RP.

yeah, but its a nice sentiment. when i went to see sarah mclachlan in concert years ago, i left thinking "she's got the voice of an angel" since she's even better live. so, perhaps that's where this was going. who knows? ;)

Can\'t wait to get this CD
Okay, but a little too downtempo for my mood tonight.
Well it's July 8 now and I still don't care for this song. I guess it wasn't my mood
First time I have heard anything of Ben Harper\'s new album. Not too impressed. I am waiting to really like something from this guy... I have liked some songs off of Burn to Shine, but have yet to find that song by him that makes me stand up and .
Simply beautiful.
Just mute and concentrate on the cover. That helps...
So do we revise this encyclopedia entry to say Mostly harmless?
