Red, red wine
Goes to my head
Makes me forget that I
Still need her so

Red, red wine
It's up to you
All I can do I've done
Memories won't go
Memories won't go

I'd have sworn
That with time
Thoughts of you
Would leave my head
I was wrong
Now I find
Just one thing makes me forget

Red, red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearin' apart
My blue, blue heart

I'd have sworn
That with time
Thoughts of you
Would leave my head
I was wrong
Now I find
Just one thing makes me forget

Red, red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearin' apart
My blue, blue heart

Red red wine, you make me feel so fine,
You keep me rockin' all of the time
Red red wine, you make me feel so grand,
I feel a million dollar when you're just in my hand

Red red wine, you make me feel so sad,
Any time I see you go, it make me feel bad
Red red wine, you make me feel so fine,
Monkey pack him Rizla pon the sweet Dep line (Dep International Studios, where UB40 recorded)

(Red red wine...)
Red red wine, you give me whole heap of zing
Whole heap of zing, you make me do my own thing
(It's up to you...)
Red red wine, you really know how fi love
Your kind of lovin' like a blessing from above

Red red wine, I loved you right from the start,
Right from the start, with all of my heart
Red red wine in an eighties style
Red red wine in a modern beat style
Yeah

(I'd have sworn...)
Give me a little time, help me clear up my mind
(That with time...)
Give me a little time, help me clear up my mind
(Thoughts of you would leave my head...)
Give me red wine, the kind make me feel fine
You make me feel fine all of the time

Red red wine, you make me feel so fine
Monkey pack him Rizla pon the sweet Dep line
The line broke, the monkey get choked,
Burn bad ganja pon his little rowing boat

(Red red wine...)
Red red wine, I'm gonna hold on to you,
Hold on to you 'cause I know your love true
(Stay close to me...)
Red red wine, I'm gonna love you till I die,
Love you till I die, and that's no lie

(Don't let me be alone...)
Red red wine, can't get you off my mind
Wherever you may be,
(It's tearin' apart...)

I'll surely find,
I'll surely find. Make no fuss
(my blue, blue heart...)
Just stick with us

(I'd have sworn...)
Give me a little time, help me clear up my mind

Ugh .... so many much better tunes from UB40 than this top-40 pap. Anything from either of their first two long-plays, for example. "Tyler", "Present Arms", "One in Ten" ...
Pretty good song and one of the more commercial songs for UB40.

The real UB40 gems are "Food for thought" and "The earth dies screaming". Or any song from the "Signing off" album...
I love this stripped down and raw original version with some “ganja” thrown in for good measure.  Makes me appreciate this classic from the 80s. Made my morning! Thanks Bill.
Great ! I haven't listened to this for a while !thanks a lot.
True that it sounds a bit different (maybe better) from what i remember.
I groaned when it started, now here am I singing along....
Written by Neil Diamond!

The original song was by Neil Diamond, but I believe this sounds different than their version as well.

Yeah, sounds like a remix?

I know I haven’t heard this song in many, many years. However I have the sense that this isn’t the version I heard regularly on the radio in the 1980s. It’s possible I’m misremembering. Now I need to check other sources.

UPDATE: It's possible this is UB40's version as released on the album "Labour of Love". What I remember, though, is a version known as "Red Red Wine (12" Version)" — presumably from an EP. I can't find the original album version; even the Apple Music album uses the 12" version.

Here's the 12" Version:

Complete garbage. -1 from me.

If you were wondering what would happen if every listener in the UK hit PSD at the same time, this would be the right song to do that.
Its songs like this, endlessly played on UK (rubbish) commercial radio, that lead us all here in the 1st place. (or is that just me?)
Just my tupence worth as usual, don't hate the song, just fed up of hearing it, moan, moan, mo-o-o-an

It's just you!

There is a PSD button, you know! Instead of moaning, mind! {#Beat}
Excellent classic song, 9 stars from me. It's your own fault if you listen to "rubbish commercial radio" in the first place. I haven't done so since about 2000, so I can appreciate quality even in songs that perhaps get overplayed there.

boo
Come on! Enough with the hairball groups and songs. Throw everyone one off their rocker with something like \"String Cheese Incident\"
