I saw the ocean's daughter
Walking on a wave's chicane
Staring as she called my name
And I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
'Cause I can't get it out of my head
Breakdown on the shoreline
Can't move, it's an ebb tide
Morning don't get here till night
Searching for her silver light
And I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
'Cause I can't get it out of my head, no, no
Bank job in the city
Robin Hood and William Tell and Ivanhoe and Lancelot, they don't envy me, yeah
Sitting till the sun goes down
In dreams the world keeps going 'round and 'round
And I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
'Cause I can't get it out of my head, no, no
Oh, I can't get it out of my head
No, I can't get it out of my head
Now my old world is gone for dead
'Cause I can't get it out of my head, no, no, no, no
Sounds like it should be a Moody Blues song, but this is one of my ELO faves. Lynne's voice is wonderful. The song brings back some nice summer memories of lying in the sun on my parent's boat listening to one of those old fashioned AM portable radios, placed near my ear...
Ask yes. I loved my transistor radio!
Still sounds good in 2012 !
And still great in 2025

Out Of the Blue has stood the test of time and remains a 'go to' album for me; and a permanent feature on my top 10 albums of all time. If you can drag yourself off RP for an hour or so, put your headphones dive in! A total joy!

Life is special because of songs like this ...
Whoa! Psychedelic kitty - I'm trippin', man!

ELO was a big deal in 1970’s. Fun to hear this but cut off at that repetitive refrain, heard too many times.
Kind of the point. You can't get it out of your head.
... 46 years thinking this was John Lennon Lynne has a way better voice than Lennon I believe. Notwithstanding Lennon’s other accomplishments.
I also was hearing John Lennon here!
"Turn to Stone" and "Evil Woman" were my favourites.
Great pop songs.
love this. reminds me of being a kid.
ha. thought it was "walking on a wave she came" - learned a new word!
I did, too - for 49 years! Sheesh. This is why I listen to RP - it expands your mind!

More like 46 seconds for me, but YES!
So...Screw it. 8 >>>9,
I have made a difference in the world. You're welcome.
He must get soooo hassled at airport security.
That skull xray is useless without a lateral view. The nail could just be sellotaped to the side of his head....

Some people are overflowing with talent. Jeff Lynne is one of them.
such a genius ! I feel so lucky to be alive in the same time as Paul-awesome -Mccartney and Jeff Lynne. Growing old along with them is an honor.

got to see twice back in the day and was blown away by the live show!

Still sounds good in 2012 !
and in 2022!

I can't tell you how many years *I* thought the Bee Gees were singing, "Baldheaded woman. Baldheaded woman to me." I thought that was kind of a kinky visual- the Gibb Brothers with all of their hair, especially Barry, with baldheaded women.
When I found out, like I said years later, that they're actually singing, "More than a woman...," well, I lost interest in the song.
Turn it off.

i know, right !
And Bill plays this after Imagine...
i know, right !
Indeed. Ah, the abilities of a proper DJ. Long live RP!
Hi, from 17 years later. Lot's going on.
No idea what band you are listening to.
One man band, really. Jeff Lynne, and he's very much appreciated in the music world.

That would make you my older brother/sister. They used to scare the crap out of me with the "Fire on High".
Not a fan of the Wizard of Oz, eh? I just went +1 to join you at an 8...Long Live RP!!
Stupid album cover: yes, and very much so! Great track:sorry, no; not at all...

It seems to me that Stingray came to the same conclusion long before you did. I somehow miss his straight forward comments.
excellent idea
Prior to this song John Lennon indeed appeared with Imagine. Coincidence or not? To me the voices of John Lennon and Jeff Lynne resemble.

Totally agree.
Agree too, love them

It's an age-thing, trust me!
Uh-huh. And trust me, everyone else is looking forward to you finally growing out of the angry young man period of your life.
Wonder if "#9 a Dream" by John Lennon follows after this song...
excellent idea
Wonder if "#9 a Dream" by John Lennon follows after this song...
Would much rather hear #9 Dream perpetually than ELO even once...except maybe for Showdown...
Lesson learned.
Got to dig this out again.
Too much for anybody with an open mind for alternative rock!
Hasn't your license to use the word combination “open mind” in a sentence recently been revoked?
Wonder if "#9 a Dream" by John Lennon follows after this song...
nope...
