Everything goes better with cello.
Agreed! 2CELLOS - Thunderstruck [OFFICIAL VIDEO] (youtube.com)
Great call! From a big surrealist fan.
Incredibly beautiful music! Only those who are capable of enjoying something without an audible beat can appreciate it.
This IS supposed to be an eclectic mix radio station, so keep it coming!
Agreed. I'm often drawn to the rhythm, a strong undercurrent beat, yet this is beautiful and satisfying without one. Radio Paradise is an unmatched source of musical discovery.
yep! i see absolutely nothing wrong with that. both are gorgeous.
I just got to shout it out into the electronic void, "Radio Paradise" rocks the Ass of everyone else! What a great and multifarious Radio Station!
Now remember to give $upport!
There is no station like 'Radio Paradise'.
We all 'live and learn'
❤️
Holy moly, a symphonic metal band on Radio Paradise? Never thought I'd see the day! (Granted, it's not a symphonic metal song, but baby steps...)
Metal?
Right. I see the music is described in the wiki entry as Neoclassical metal.
Mood and dark does not metal make IMO.
Wow. What a brilliant transition out of Prince's Purple Rain. You wouldn't think that it would work, but it does. Beautifully. Thanks.
I was about to post this exact comment, and it it occurred to me to scroll down a bit, because another great mind probably already had.
This lovely string made me walk across the office and see who it was. That's a good thing. So I was curious: who are they? Wikipedia to the rescue where I was stunned to learn:
Apocalyptica is a Finnish metal band from Helsinki, formed in 1993. The band is composed of classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso (all three of whom are graduates of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki) and drummer Mikko Sirén. Originally a Metallica tribute band, their music borrows elements from a wide variety of genres...

What? A Metallica tribute band? Never guess it from this song. What does the rest of their music sound like?
You should definitely see them live. They are extremely powerful. They've released probably 8 albums by now, and I am surprised how much little European music gets across to the US. They have a cult status over here. On the last few albums they've made lots of vocal collaborations with singers from famous metal bands, for example Corey of Slipknot. On this particular album, most drum tracks are done by Dave Lombardo of Slayer :)
Right you are. Fixed.
I noted some time ago that this track does not really support the title of "Drive". And I'm familiar with 'Drive'. It's on my phone tunes, and is dynamic, not wistful.
Going higher 7 > 8
I joined your motion to go to 8, it really is beautiful. I've always enjoyed the Metallica covers by Apocalyptica but it's really nice to hear this original composition.
Upped my rating today 6>7

what use is a beat if it is not audible?
You can sense the beat (or pulse, if you prefer) even if you can't explicitly hear it.
I don't know them very well and I'm not a Metallica fan, but I think they did an excellent job playing Metallica on cellos.
You'll probably want to see this:

Not on my CD, it's not.
Yes, PSD will do JUST THAT!!
I did just that, and got Miles Davis. Phew!
You're right that this certainly isn't Drive; but Ruska isn't on this CD (for what that's worth). I think it's actually "Epilogue (Relief)". At least that's the name on my mp3. I don't have access to my physical CD at the moment to verify.
Please change the title of the song on the bar. This is NOT Drive. I have Drive on my pod. This is not that. This wistful lament bears no resemblance to driving for a goal or in a fast car.
This is among the best RP posts I've ever seen

Correct, it's definitely "Epilogue (Relief)"
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but Drive is on my pod, and this isn't Drive. It's Russka. Drive is propulsive, like the title. Russka is melancholy.
Bill?

Depressing. And cheesily manipulative. It's all cliches.
Funny how I was just thinking how much potential each one of us have, and we don't express it. Huh.

No. The mood can be rather cathartic. If entertained right, it can cleanse the emotions and spirit.
Nordic and strange? Yup. :)
Another incredible piece on that album is "ICE".

...which again makes me wonder why we do not hear more Camel on here.

That cracked me up, Mojo. Thanks.

Awesome movie. Maybe I'll watch it tonight. Wish I had it on blu-ray instead of the old chunky VHS.
Gattaca is awesome. Seems to be one of these movies that flys under the radar of most people but it really is a great, thoughtprovoking flick.
This is nothing. Try Alan Parsons' Project "The Eye in the Sky" sometime for a real cliff-jumper.
WOW! Other Gattaca fans! Thot the world hated it. Sooooo well done and moody!

I like music like this but I can't listen to it the whole day but still good music!
god forbid a person get in touch with what is really going on inside. might actually evolve. with what is going on outside of us these days, suicide, or death to one's old, ineffective ways, may not be a bad thing. if only everyone would actually allow themseles to 'feel', instead of running from it, the world would be a much better place.
That is quite a presumptuous statement to make about me just because I think this song is morbidly depressing. You know nothing about how deeply I feel, which is why this song bothers me so much. But whatever.....you know everything......

This definitely sounds a lot like Gattaca soundtrack. Which I like.
Brilliant movie too
