Recollect me darling raise me to your lips
Two undernourished egos four rotating hips
Hold on to me tightly I'm a sliding scale
Can't endure then you can't inhale
Clearly
Out of body experience interferes
And dreams of flying I fit nearly
Surrounds me though I get lonely
Slowly

Moving up slowly
Inertia keeps
She's moving up slowly
Slowly
Moving up slowly
Inertia creeps
Moving up slowly
She comes
Moving up slowly
She comes
Moving up slowly
Inertia creeps
Moving up slowly
She comes
Moving up slowly
Moving up slowly

In my home no chrome as clear as
See me now with my nearest dearest
Been there when I'm over careering
Room shifting is endearing
Between us is our kitchen
Would you found my irritant's itching
Been here before
Been here forever

Moving up slowly
Inertia keeps
Moving up slowly
Inertia creeps
Moving up slowly
Inertia keeps
Moving up slowly
She comes
Moving up slowly
Moving up slowly
She comes moving up slowly
Inertia creeps moving up slowly

She comes
I make no sound in my eidertown
Awake I lie in the morning's blue
Room is still my antenna in you
Nylon burns the bedspread with two
Gravity's zero see me stall
I bounce off walls lose my footing and fall
It can be sweet though incomplete though
And the frames will freeze
See me on all four's
It's been a long time

She comes
She comes
I want to x you
She comes
I want to x you
She comes

I caught your radio waves
I caught your radio waves
Will you take a string
Say you string me along
Say you string me along
Say inertia creeps
Inertia creeps and she comes
Say she comes
Say she comes
Say she comes
Say she comes

This one hits like a truck. 10/10
We plan to name our next cat "Inertia". I'm looking for an especially fat and lazy breed. This will be her theme song.
8.... no,  9!  When I hear this, I can feel my wife..... moving up slowly...
This is one to put on to go to the next level to... The gravity of this album, and this song, was strong all over Japan when it came out...
Alicia Keys moving up slowly
Never know what to expect from this group but it's always cool.  Thought for sure it was Syntax.  Always amazed with the dynamics, production and surprises this band offers up.
Wow.  Really good.
Haven't heard this. Nice.

Just came in to hit the 10 button again for good measure.
Tricky is a badman
Hearing this one live with their stage show is a highlight of my concert memories. Wish they'd tour thru Dallas again. {#Daisy}

For Gravity's zero shortchange.
This song is confusing. I love it, but I feel like I shouldn't find a song about relationship inertia so damn sexy.

It seems that they often strive for a "robotic", electronic, or "trip-hop" sound, so maybe that's part of what they were going for with this number.  This does have a rhythm/clave resembling a "Bo Diddley beat" though.
Great tune to follow New Orleans Is Sinking by the Hip! My speakers are about to explode!!!!
Massive Attack is legendary as is the Mezzanine...

Jupp, totally listless!
Well, this is a rather charmless number, isn't it?

I, too. Not odd, methinks a robotic BD.

i still can't get behind chanting as a substitute for singing.  well maybe knopfler or cohen or waits but they sorta sing and at least chant in good tune.

Is that seriously your criteria for rocking? You should consider revising your music evaluation paradigm.
This would mashup well with Suzanne Vega's Blood Makes Noise.
Fifteen years old this year, and sounding as unique and novel as back then.
Oh I hadn't heard this before tonight.... excellent, mystical edges to the spoken voice, the great beat, great production, I know I need to hear this several times more to really really rate it however.  RP is the best!

I think I said something similar in another song thread from this album. Truly a masterpiece regarding music for the boudoir.
Best makeout album of all time.
Love this whole album.

That's a very good rule of thumb. When contributing to fora, remember that the people you're addressing are real humans, not 1-dimensional cardboard cutouts, and if don't have the chops to say it to their face then don't say it online. The Net would be a far better place if folk followed that maxim. It's also worth remembering that true anonymity is hard to achieve online, so if you flame someone and the flamee really gets the hump s/he could track you down in real life.

Another useful rule is to post under your real name, as I do. When a moment's web search could find my place of work, there's a real incentive to keep things civil.

Somehow I had missed this particular song before RP, even though I like very many songs from Massive Attack.  This has become one of my absolute favorites.  Not only a 10, but a hell yeah! 10.

The intro sounds like Oenyaw.  (I should know).  Cool!
Used to adore this song, not so much now, I prefer the latter half of the album, most notably the title track and Black Milk

Opposite for me. Just saw I gave it a "4" some month ago
today I give it an "8"

By the way, I gave this an 8. I liked it. I'm a science geek - if you can measure something then it's not an opinion. Otherwise, it is, and stop portraying it as some freaking absolute that all the rest of us should adhere to. I'm so tired of this. My positive is also meaningless, but at least it's positive.

This is truely another MOST RIDILULOUS little-silly comment!
COMPLIMENT!

Best the conclusion: "...at least it's positive!"

Not everybody needs "Happy-Prozac" sermon!

Who says this is a forum to post all-American, middle-of-the-road positivism?
And why do think you're the one to speak for others?

eeegad. i guess people's imagination does different things for 'em. try forgetting what a song is supposed to look like on tv, open your head and let the sound have it's way with your body. If you're in a dark club or riding in a limo through the city late at night it might help. Or you could just imagine that you're in those places and see what happens.

Funny—I'm the opposite. I love Mezzanine, but 100th Window blows me away, especially "A Prayer for England".

massive attack is great, love just about everything thing I've heard from them.

Nope—this is well after Tricky left. I believe it's 3D (Del Naja).
This is one of the few items (can't say "songs") on RP that actually makes me hit "MUTE."

In the city of Istambul, all you need to add is to be in a old crowded room with pealing paint on the walls, the smell of old stone, the lights flashing, people moving, dancing, and on a small stage in the center is girl with long hair dancing and swinging that hair around.

That is the image this song bring...

This album is a work of genius! A true dub/trip-hop masterpiece.
Sometimes there's just nothing like a little electronica to break the doldrums of an office job.
Yes!  My favorite Massive Attack song!

in·ner·vate (ĭ-nûr'vāt', ĭn'ər-) pronunciation tr.v., -vat·ed, -vat·ing, -vates. 1. To supply (an organ or a body part) with nerves. 2. To stimulate (a nerve, muscle, or body part) to action.
