It is well documented that Black Francis digs "I'm Your Man" (the album). He used to play it repeatedly back in the day.

There is a version by Jarvis Cocker that works better than this cover.

I like both Cohen and Pixies, but this just does not work.

Could be WAY frikkin' better—COULD be Cohen's version. This su . . . well, okay, maybe not sucks. But it's sure nothing like Leonard's take.

I'm a big Pixies fan, but you were right first time - this sucks - dreadfully dull.

I generally like Cohen covers better than the master's orginals but I'm tending to resist this. Need a few more listens?
Wild -- I was telling my wife last night that I might buy a Dengue Fever album next, and she said she wanted to catch up on Frank Black. I guess all these great minds think alike!
...great song!..

I really want to get into this band. I never heard a lot of their stuff. I am really into Modest Mouse and this is one of their big influences.
When I get that feeling I start from the beginning with the first release and then go from there. But that's just me.
Great song by a great band. Speaking of covers, I saw David Bowie do a cover of a Pixies song here in Perth! Saw the Pixies 2 months ago, and yes they looked both tired and old, but hey, they rocked. Saw Frank by himself ages ago and that was one of the most full on sessions I have ever heard.

Wave of Mutilation: Best Of should be your first port of call then. Absolutely essential stuff!
Just in order to complete your tip... I'd have a look at this too:

Another artist to add to the serious list that Frank has covered. Beatles,Neil Young,Townes van Zandt(Song Of The Shrimp cover of a cover)and leonard Cohen.

Funny, this isn't one of my favorite l.c. songs, but maybe that's just in comparison to the rest of the i'm your man album, which is tremendous.
That's funny indeed, as for me I Can't Forget is the best song on that album.
9. I'm a huge Leonard Cohen fan, grew up listening to him with my stepdad. Funny, this isn't one of my favorite l.c. songs, but maybe that's just in comparison to the rest of the i'm your man album, which is tremendous. however, it's my favorite cover off this disc. Helps that I'm a huge Pixies fan as well.

Somehow... the vision I have of the "Pixies" tightening up their guts, just doesn't have the impact of Leonard Cohen voicing the same words... In fact.. I wanna giggle...
Haha, good one Diane... poor, chubby Frank Black.
I Can't Hear this Song Enough... Who rhymes like Leonard Cohen...Phoenix and seen us...absolutely kills me everytime. That is pure genius in action. God bless LC and all the great artists who've covered his songs...and RP for playing them. Oh and God bless the USA, and God this, and Goddam that ;)
The lyrics to this Leonard Cohen song could be nominated for the best song lyrics ever. I like the Pixies but I don't particularly like their rendition of I Can't Forget.

That's a Leonard Cohen tune, pretty cool
Yes. Yes, it is. And man, does he do it justice. Unlike, say, this.
PIXIES RULE!!!
I don't want to forget! This is the Pixies at their bitchinist!
Just slightly above the puke rating (but if it goes on much longer...)
LOVE IT!!!!

Man, what a lot of painful noise. They do sound hungover.
Wow...Frank sounds really tired. Actually, they all sound hungover.

There are not too many Pixies songs that I enjoy. I understand the influence they've had on other bands, but at the end of the day, their songs just aren't that appealing to me.
Wuthesed. Fair to middling at best.

My God! I hope I can forget this awful song!!!!
Perfect timing! We're seeing them tonight. Old or not, they should be fun.
there's no 'The' - it's just Pixies
Did anyone see The Pixies on David Letterman last week? They looked old. Made me feel old. /meh
Effing amazing. Thank you RP.

I highly, highly recommend the Cohen song. It has a depth and an emotion and a sense of mattering that is beyond even imagining in this version. Blah. To be charitable.
I highly, highly recommend this entire album of Leonard Cohen cover songs. There's some really interesting stuff on it -- quite the eclectic mix. I think I've heard one or two other tracks from this album on RP, now that I think about it.
Wow, 2 comment -less songs in a row! Must be new music Monday at RP.
