All my friends know the low rider
The low rider is a little higher
Yeah

The low rider drives a little slower
Low rider, is a real goer
Hey

Low rider knows every street, yeah
Low rider, is the one to meet, yeah

Low rider, don't use no gas now
The low rider don't drive too fast

Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip and see
Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip with me

GREAT BAND!  Who cares?  A lot of crummy bands are in the Rock & Roll Hall of fame!
First 7" I ever bought with my own money, played it until the needle wore through to the B side ;-)

Hellz yeah!!
Saw them live in Manchester UK in 1976 and they blew the place up. I was 17 years old. Remember singing along to "Why can't we be friends" and shedding a tear.
One of the greatest cruisin' songs,
so smooooooooth. . .  .  .  .     .      .      .
Let’s get high✌️

Hahahahahahaha.  Made my morning.
Yeeees!
O mi gawd so very funky! Could use a couple more rounds developing more of that sax that comes in at the end.
Such fond memories of this song. It came out when I was a young kid from western Oklahoma driving my first car, a 1964 Rambler with a 3 speed column shift manual transmission, the side of the car all dented up on one side, thinking I was king of the road playing this tune at full blast.

Mind you, a drive down the PCH would be brilliant even if you were forced to listen to Abba!
What a groove to ride a low rider✌️

Reminds me a lot of ZZ Top.. guess it's just me..
Those in the UK will be reminded of the classic Marmite adverts from 1994 onwards. Classic.
That bass line!!!!!
Waaay cool 😎
Never heard this in headphones before. Neat little ascending guitar riff in the old right ear.
The greatest ryhthm plus melody song that ever there has been.  Give up trying for something better people.  Or, rather, keep trying but it's unlikely there's anything better out there in the soundscape.  Happy to say I'm wrong.  The fun lyrics are a nice plus too.
what a classic...
Thanks RP.

I always think of Cheech and Chong when I hear this song. Yeah me too !!

this song reminds me of the time my gramma taught me how to cut the springs on my chevette, she told me I didn't need a fancy low rider to be a player.good times, thank you gramma and war too i guess.
Saw War at a big outdoor festival in Denver back in the 70's. They were the last band before main act, Bob Seeger. Seeger was good but he was no match for War.

Still one of the finest performances I've ever seen - so tight, so crisp, so good!

Saw these guys live up here in the hinterlands a couple years ago, and they were excellent.
To steal from Patton...

"I love it. God help me I do love it so. I love it more than my life."

This kind of War; not so much that other kind.
'you like the dingle balls? I did them myself."

Wow....I had to bump this funky groove from 9 to 10.  Not only does it remind me of my dad, it's further evidence of how much of a "playa" he was back in the day.  And as a kid, I remember loving this record amongst the 1000 or so LPs he had.  And then fast forward to the late 90s/early 00's, and boy was I a "playa" too!  I won't go into too many details, just imagine a 20 something pizza delivery guy and king of his neighborhood bumping this tune while returning to the restaurant, knowing exactly how to extend that drive to include a "paid" smoke break.  And yeah....some details I have to leave out to protect the guilty.  Thank you BillG for playing this staple even against the haters' haterations.

LONG LIVE RP!!

Try that George Lopez sitcom.
I. do. not. get. the. automotive. aesthetic! I do, however, really enjoy this tune.
Just saw these guys give an outdoor concert last week here in San Jose, CA...Home to many a low rider...
The park was full and there were people all around the perimiter watching and socializing from outside the fence.  One of the biggest turnouts I've seen for a downtown concert.  WAR put on a great show and I was really impressed with the talent of the members.  They definitely still "got it".  Really fun show!

Ruining everything about this song {#Iamwithstupid}

Agree! In my case it was 1980 and I had a 1978 Firebird going south on the PCH near Santa Barbara. Had to turn the volume up to 11!

Damnnnn , now we are talking.
Always liked this song,my daughter and I danced to it when she was little..
Less cowbell!!
I saw this band perform this at the House of Blues in New Orleans back in the '90's.  Fantastic gig and great tune!

Lowrider

This is my favorite song at Karaoke night.   The DJ always freaks when I ask for this.

Reminds me of my first visits to "Grünspan" (Hamburg, Reeperbahn, Grosse Freiheit) ... Early 70s
n4ku sent me a mix tape (ok, it was a CD) and this song was on it. It is one way he cemented himself to my heart. I'd say more, but meh, no1curr about other people's love stories.
An ode to the pimpmobile
I love it.  Great stab from the past that I don't hear very often.

Uncle Sam = Big Brother?

In George Orwell's novel 1984, "Big Brother" is the dictator of Oceania. No one knows whether Big Brother is a real person, or simply the personification of the dictatorship. Big Brother spies on every citizen through "telescreens." Everyone is reminded constantly, "Big Brother is Watching You."

Let's compare that to the recent revelations about the Orwellian-named National Security Agency (NSA), an arm of the U.S. Department of Defense...

The bottom line is that the NSA evidently is getting call information on virtually every phone call by virtually every American, it is definitely getting the emails and call content of foreigners, and it may or may not be getting the emails and call content of Americans.

So is Uncle Sam actually Big Brother? I won't dwell on the convoluted intimate relations that would be necessary to make your uncle also your brother. Rather, as noted above, the essence of Big Brother was that "Big Brother is Watching You." Uncle Sam isn't physically observing you at all times — that much is true. But if Uncle Sam is receiving information about every phone call that you make (as the NSA concedes), and Uncle Sam has access every other electronic communication of yours, including your emails and web browsing and storing it all (which the NSA disputes), then yes, Big Brother is Watching You...

ever hear of the patriot act? it is why g.h.w.bush had the Saudi's destroy the towers.

All this time I thought I was listening to J.J.Cale.

Funk-key, trip taken, thank you Radio Paradise.

Are you serious?  How about...  EVERYWHERE?  This is one of those songs that, while a decent song, has been played SO much that I never want to hear it again.
My 13yo son 'low rides'.  Can't help but think of this tune every time I tell him to pull up his pants.

Always fun.  Another fun bass part to play some day.
One of the best songs of the 70s!
Actually, my local classic rock stations in IA and back in MI played it constantly. A local car dealership used it in their radio ads a few years ago.

Yep, the Cruise is upon us again soon! Alas, I'll have to settle for the American Graffitti version in Petaluma, as I won't be back in the Motor City for awhile.

Do you know about the Rock Stars, Cars and Guitars event at the Henry Ford Museum?

I haven't found it to be true that this is the only song people think of from WAR.  Maybe it depends where one lives.  I've found that people tend to remember "Spill The Wine", "The Cisco Kid" and "Why Can't We Be Friends?" as well.

I just don't ever get sick of this one.

Nine bananas!

{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}
Suddenly I am again about 10 years old, riding my Western Flyer bike, metallic green with chrome sissy bar and aluminum-foil "mag wheels" in my spokes, and my new neighborhood friend, Cletus, is riding along next to me on his shiny blue Schwinn, and we're singing, "Take a little trip, take a little trip...with me-ee..." and GOD, THOSE WERE THE DAYS!
Thanks, RP, for making them live forever!
