Is there room for one more son, one more son
If you can hold on
If you can hold on, hold on
I wanna stand up, I wanna let go
You know you know, no you don't you don't
I wanna shine on, in the hearts of man
I want a meaning from the back of my broken hand
Another head aches, another heart breaks
I'm so much older, than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection, no no no no
Help me out
Yeah, you know you gotta help me out
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner
You know you gotta help me out, yeah
And when there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
These changes, ain't changin' me
The cold-hearted boy I used to be
Yeah, you know you gotta help me out
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner
You know you gotta help me out
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
(''I got soul, but'') I got soul, but I'm not a soldier (''I'm not a soldier'')
I got soul, but (''I got soul, but'') I'm not a soldier (''I'm not a soldier'')
I got soul, but (''I got soul, but'') I'm not a soldier (''I'm not a soldier'')
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
(''Time, Truth, and Hearts'')
Yeah, you know you gotta help me out

You know you gotta help me out
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner
You're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
Over and in, last call for sin
While everyone's lost, the battle is won
With all these things that I've done
All these things that I've done
(''Time, Truth, and Hearts'')
If you can hold on
If you can hold on

It's a 10 because the whole family start singing in whatever distant room they happen to be and that's what life's for.
yup, my son (about 3 or 4 at the time) would sing the "i got soul" chorus from the back seat everytime!
My unpopular opinion is that Southland Tales is a fantastic movie. The whole storyline is original, surreal and wonderfully confusing, it has a great soundtrack--not just this song, which is kind of the film's centerpiece, but also Pixies, Rebekah Del Rio, and BRMC--and the cast, can we talk about the cast? Not just Timberlake, but Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amy Poehler, Nora Dunn, Cheri Oteri, Will Sasso, Jon Lovitz, John Laroquette, Wallace Shawn (Inconceivable!), Stifler, Booger, the medium lady from Poltergeist, Kevin Smith, Janeane Garolfolo (in a deleted scene).
One of my faves. I agree on all points!

hey - thanks for the movie tip!
I just watched the trailer and hoped to rent the movie soon. Period.
I love the fact it distracted by the same person that did Donnie Darko.
I like this song a lot more since I watched the movie "Southland Tales", where Justin Timberlake (!) lip-synced this while a bevy of beautiful female dancers, all dressed alike (I think in nurse uniforms), danced around him. Can't get the visuals out of my head when I hear this song now.

Sounds like they ripped off the Beatles Two of Us in parts...

What's he not?
The only thing that the Killers (lol), could be doing following Porcupine Tree is on their knees in awe and reverence........Hoping for a crumb.
Here's a couple more ideas...
I care but I'm not going to be up in arms over it. Or maybe fighting isn't always the answer. Take your pick.
I don't assign demerits for ambiguity in my music.
FUN!
Yep... that's why I dinged it. Otherwise.....
Love it!
But I wonder, is there room for one more sun?
I think, yes, yes there is....
How about this one?

This song and I get along quite well......not sure what it is about it but I have upped my vote to a solid 10. It has staying power and will be around for years to come, at least in my playlist. The lyrics are powerful, the singing even more so and it touches me like most songs rarely do.
