When the wind picked up, the fire spread
And the grapevine seemed left for dead
And the northern sky looked like the end of days
The end of days

The wake-up call to a rented room
Sounded like an alarm of impending doom
To warn us it's only a matter of time
Before we all burn
Before we all burn
Before we all burn
Before we all burn

We bought some wine and some paper cups
Near your daughter's school when we picked her up
And drove to a cemetery on a hill
On a hill

And we watched the plumes paint the sky gray
As she laughed and danced through the field of graves
There I knew it would be alright
That everything would be alright
Would be alright
Would be alright
Would be alright

And the news reports on the radio said it was getting worse
As the ocean air fanned the flames
But I couldn't think of anywhere I would've rather been
To watch it all burn away, to burn away

''Burn
Burn
Burn''

The firemen worked in double shifts
With prayers for rain on their lips
And they knew it was only a matter of time

Why does Al Stewart have no place on RP?  Bill, can we listen to "Roads to Moscow" or "On the Border" some time?

You bet. We play both of those.

The first time I heard "Roads to Moscow" was here on RP. In fact, haven't you played "Year of the Cat" once?
Cheers!

There's a terrific video for this at https://blog.howdesign.com/PermaLink,guid,1619faf6-ce33-4359-a509-2a4b26e4c6f7.aspx .

Really weak vocals.

Nice sarcasm.  Oh wait, you thought you were being cute.  Not that it matters either way.

This one finally made it down to a 1.

Yup...had to look to verify who it was, since Al Stewart has no place on RP! Since it's DCFC, they get a pass (I really like Cath.)

Oh no.  Not another one.  These guys get more play here than they do on the local corporate rock stations.  Too bad, bye.

Weakest effort Ive heard from this album.

Now it hits me!

There us just something about Seattle that inspires greatness...
"can't think of anywhere I'd have rather been."
That speaks to me as a life-long Californian, and makes me both proud and sad.

I like the sound.  It seems to flow very smoothly.

I love it.
