Pure genius!

I saw the original with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway and didn't like it much so never bothered with the remake.  The music must have been good though!! :)

I saw the McQueen/Dunaway version again, and it just doesn't come close to the remake.  Even setting aside the beautiful people, clothes, homes, etc. etc. the remake has a much more coherent plot, and several incredibly detailed art heists.  Ms. Dunaway has a cameo in the remake - as Thomas Crown's shrink.  She still looks good, too.

McQueen and Dunaway plowing through sand in a dune buggy doesn't compare to Pierce Brosnan capsizing a gigantic sailboat in the opening few minutes.

I logged on to say the same. Both are fantastic songs!

Probably because it's another interpretation of what is fundamentally the same song :)
And both interps is nothing other than godlike imo!

Yes - this is how we used to play stuff when jamming at school... It's a great track, but I think I'd prefer the 7"...

This song has earned the coveted 5 headache award.

A guy named Nina? I suppose it could happen, but not in this case.

Oh my God!  This is one of my favorite Nina Simone songs!  Thank you so much for playing it.  I got to see her perform live about 6 months before she died.  She was incredible.  Her book is good too. (I Put A Spell On You)
must. buy. a. cell phone that gets me and me.

I dig the remixed version of this but i love the rawness on this track. bring it.
Much to like, but less would be more...
powwwwerrrrr!

Buncha grumps.  This is great stuff from Nina.

I've had one like that and it seems to be fairly common actually.  One of the many things I've always liked about Rebecca is she's always willing to admit a mistake.

Pretty, please...MAKE IT STOP!{#Arghhh}
please make it stop.

What a beautiful movie.  Beautiful people, beautiful clothes, beautiful cars, beautiful music, beautiful locations with beautiful furniture, a beautiful plot, and a beautiful opening sequence with a beautiful catamaran.  Why isn't my life like that?

Finally found a Nina Simone song I don't like and its this one.

Doesn't this song ever end?

Nina on RP?!?!
Love it!

Perfect theme for "The Thing that Wouldn't Leave"
I need to watch this movie again.  I think this was playing during the bowler-hat chase scene.

To add on the song:  blech.

As a self-avowed music snob, I know I am supposed to like this track...but I don't.

Forget the War on Drugs. Forget the War on Terror. What we really need is a War on Songs that are One (or Two or Three) Minutes Too Long.

Reminds me of a story of two first grade teachers who were comparing notes about the fingerpainting and artwork of their pupils. One of the teachers says "How do you do it? I've seen your pupils' art and it's wonderful. Mine just kind of make messes". The other teacher replied "I know when to take the art away from them".

To clarify; What do you define as too long? Is there a specific cutoff time for any song?
mute
This is a piece I admire but don't really like.

LOL.  Well Renee isn't exactly a "classic" beauty though - maybe best to say they're both handsome.  As far as the music - not my favorite Nina Simone tune - probably more effective when watching the movie.

The cover photo appears heavily retouched, it hardly looks like her. I think 'handsome' is a suitable compliment, or maybe 'handsomely attractive'. Plus she showed her boobs in the movie, so there's that...

Seconded and then some.

OMG, how long does this last?

{#Lol} Well I'd rather see that, than hear him "sing" in Momma Mia. Oy, that was bad!
What an incredible loss that Miss Nina is gone. This is awesome.

me too. Nina Simone singing a grocery list would rate at least a 6, so there you go.

Yup. The ending pushed me over the edge.  Icchhh.
Oh Yes... and on the way back from the Devil you realize the truth...what fun.

OK, I'll rephrase that - it's not one of her efforts that I enjoy. AND it lasts FAR too long.

The dogs outside, up and down the street, are baying in pain...
This is why I bought the dvd of Thomas Crown Affair.  The clapping and beat in the final 'action' was absolutely addictive.
