Anda my love
Wake up to your window
The day calls in billows
It's echoing moonlight onto the blue nightmare of your heart
In cosy red rainbow
It's shaking off halos
And the memory of our sacred so and so's

Oh, take my hand sweet
Complete your release
Unbury your feet
And married we'll be
Alone in receiving ours is a feeling
Not that they would see
They don't know that we could be
Down where your cradle escaped the sea
And your raven-haired mama caught told you so's

We're laying in the shadow of your family tree
Your haunted heart and me
Brought down by an old idea whose time has come
And in the shadow of the gallows of your family tree
There's a hundred hearts or three
Pumping blood to the roots of evil to keep them young

Ah me all mine
Is it safe to say that we've waited patiently
Call me on time
And recall the tune that has placed us gracefully
All into line
There's a garden grave and a place there saved for you
I fall by your side
Though your silver-haired mama throws told-you so's

We're laying in the shadow of your family tree
Your haunted heart and me
Brought down by an old idea whose time has come
And in the shadow of the gallows of your family tree
There's a hundred hearts or three
Pumping blood to the roots of evil to keep them young

Now we're gathered in the shadow of your family tree
In halted harmony
Brought down by an old idea whose time has come
And in the shadow of the valley of your family tree
There's a hundred hearts or three
Pumping blood to the roots of Eden to keep us young

Your comment is 5yrs old. I hope you have gotten to hear it in it's entirety since then!  GREAT TUNE!  Thanx RP!

Now I know where Katy Perry got her Firework from, well, with a bit of a stretch, a lot of a stretch actually.
  pleasant change in atmosphere on this piece.. {#Music}
Terrific band. Great song.
The folks at the halfway house are put to sleep by this song!

So, we play it often...... {#Shhh}

This song makes me want to become a mushroom farmer...

That fits perfectly.  You have a wonderful sense of humor.

This is a colossal track by an underrated band - more from these boys please Bill! {#Cool}
Please more TV on the Radio!! Maybe some Return to Cookie Mountain?
I've never heard this before, and I love it!

And, I've finally made it official. Laid my dollars down, few as they are. At least I'm givin' a little, for all that I get.

THANK YOU TV on the Radio!

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!!!!!!! Since hearing these guys for the first time on RP in about 2008, they have climbed to the top of my little music ladder and it will take a herculean band to dislodge them.

Reminds me of a Flaming Lips song...
The simplicity of this album cover design is cool. Good tune too. The unison octave vocals are a unique touch.
A little of a Celtic feel...I like{#Angel}

very cool song.  great band

Well that was kinda cool.
underrated great album-love this cut.
I think this band suffers from possible confusion with Radiohead
Genesis?
{#Dance} thanks for playing this, Bill!

the picture is great. the tune is also great. name calling is childish

Great band.  Great record.  Saw them live at Malkin Bowl in Vancouver's beautiful Stanley Park.  Great live show.  Don't be fooled by this mellow tune - these dudes seriously ROCK!

Selah.

If this is one of the best albums of 2008 then there was nothing worth listening to that was released in 2008. I need to dust off my recorder, call the guys back to my studio, record some of the tunes I have written through the years and have the best album of 2009 or 10. Tom Petty with Mudcrutch is influencing my creative musical thoughts lately.

and I'm hearing a Beach Boys influence.  (Can we have some Beach Boys, Bill?)

It does sound a little Elbow-ish, doesn't it? Coincidentally, Guy Garvey is a huge fan of the band.

Definitely a Peter Gabriel sound including a Frippertronics fade out.

This tune sure sounds like Peter Gabriel
I saw these dudes at Coachella on 4/18. Excellent set! They really rock live. {#Clap}
This song does nothing for me, kinda boring.

Is playing "TV on the Radio" right after playing The Who Bill's sly comment on The Who's ubiquity as CSI's theme songs?

You might be right.  I will say this after watch a tribute to the Who on the Paladum channel, several band played
who songs, the best was Pearl Jam.  But when the Who came on and played they sounded so much better than
then anyone else.  I was never a big Who fan, too young, but those guys are 60 plus years old and they sound just
as good as they did when they were at their peak.  I like it that their music is used as CSI's theme songs, I think it
has introduced a whole new generation to their music.  Which lets face still sounds really good.

A 6 for now.

TV On The Radio On The TV?

  Although it's pretty clear at certain moments that the singer is also responsible for that Love Dog atrocity on this same CD.

I've never really heard New Pornographers in TV on the Radio, until this song.  And, boy howdy, on this song do I expect Neko Case to start wailing any moment.

Mere words cannot express my glee that that does not happen.

This is just the most fantastic album... there are no crap tracks, everything is fresh, innovative and creative. I'll certainly be looking out for more of their music.

Bad night, I think. I saw or read about an interview with one of the band members. There were issues with the sound crew, from what I understand.

Aside from that, this is an excellent cd...

Definitely a New Porno sound to them, which to me is a good thing.

This is one of the best CD's of 2008. As  for your comments, has anyone ever accused you of having an outsized ego? If not, let me be the first!

Christ, seriously. Hey parrothead — I'm wondering how many of your albums have hit the charts, been on any Ten Best lists, or even been released?

Before I looked I thought this was Elbow, great stuff none the less. =)

If Buffett would have released a 2008 disc, it would be on your best album list, wouldn't it?

  I am a big Tom P. fan, but if his happy trip back in time with his old band is getting your creative juices flowing, I can see why TVOTR doesn't float your boat.  But it sure as hell floats mine.  Too each his own. That's why I love RP

My friend tried to get me into this band, but i never got around to checking them out... anyone got an opinion on what their best CD for the uninitiated would be?

I think you're on to something. "Hi, I'll have the musical irony with a side of subtle . . . "

This is good, but too bad it wasn't "Love Dog" . . . {#Wink}

At least it's something other than that stupid Love Dog song from this release.
I like "the gallows of your family tree..." I like this on the first listen.
Sounds a lot like that one New Pornographers song. I kept hearing that parallel in my head while this was played, which makes it difficult to appreciate this song.

Wow, this band changes gears quickly.  Truly eclectic.
Got introduced to this group from my son - took me and the mrs to a concert here in Boston.
Great group - very talented and hopefully will start getting more visibility (they've done well overseas, or so they told me backstage)
Great album!
this is ok. words are interesting. they do a cover of daniel johnston's "walking the cow" that i absolutely love!
yawn
This definitely needs a warm-up period but I'm getting there.  I like their earlier stuff.
This album is getting quite a lot of play recently.  I dont know much about TV on the Radio, I'll have to keep my ears proverbially 'peeled'.
Works gradually on me.
