Would this be considered an instrumental? All those La-la's at the end....?

Saw McCartney 321 on Hulu recently. Well worth the watch... most of it is Rick Rubin & Paul playing back master tapes, highlighting different tracks and talking about how songs came to be. I heard many things I've never heard before, very cool ride.

watched them too having finished watching the Get Back films - they truly were creative. We really must not forget the encouragement from George Martin. There should be a follow up series on him and Abbey Road studios

No smart phones around when that was recorded......

Nice segue from Son Volt's "Medication."

This is what I hear when "medicated".  Blues with a psychedelic warble.

Sarcasm appreciated... Also TBF, this stuff is basically in the public realm at this point... couple 1000 years'll do that to copyrights...

yeah, George is talking to the Maharishi about it right now.  No worries.

Ironically, the vocals are the weak link in this instrumental . . . wait, what?
Every time I hear the goofy vocals I picture the boys from Python chortling merrily in the studio.

I believe this is the only Beatles song where the songwriting credit is given to all four Beatles!
So much awesomeness.

Yes!
Anybody else now associate this with Harry Shearer's Le Show.
Any old folk from Ny or NJ recognize this tune.
One of the DJ's from WNEW-FM in New York used this tune to either open or close their show(or both)
I thought it might had been Allison Steele(The Night Bird)
Mediocre Beatles track.  Rare event.

No, it is not. {#Mrgreen}. I remember "Dig it" from Let it be, at first. A quick search shows at least:

Suzy Parker (Let it be film)
12-bar original (Anthology 2)
Los Paranoias (Anthology 3)

Worst album cover EVER...but oh so many treasures await inside... {#Sunny}
Yes!!!! My favorite Beatles song of all time!!!! Thanks RP {#Bananapiano}

Yeah, I bought a copy in Bermuda when I was 15. I wondered about its authenticity, though, because it was on some label called Parlophone.

I sure wish I still had it today!

Wrong.
We (old folks, now) used to listen to the whole album back when this came out. "Flying" was just one of the songs that, put together with the rest, created a phenomenal piece of work.
Great album.

This is filler and yes I agree the Beatles did put out there share of clunkers.  Time makes us forget that though.
Ooooo.  I haven't heard this in a very long time!

I've always loved this album.  This is one of the "worst" songs on the album and I still gave it a 7.  There's a lot of great stuff on it:  Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, Walrus and yes, Blue Jay Way!

Beautiful!  If you have access, don't miss the Scorsese documentary on George Harrison...tomorrow and Thursday nights on HBO.

I don't care....I like it...

I am so pained by this. Shall we meet to discuss the subject of obscurity in all it's dearth of sustenance? I'll buy.

{#Yes}    Yep an album, a cohesive collection of songs that had a collective meaning and context.  What an idea.  Us old folks also remember the movie that came with this "song" too.
Hey...my right speaker was dead....or was it ?

Hello RP-Listeners!

I wish all of you "MERRY CHRISTMAS",
wherever you are - whoever you wanna be!

Christmas is a sweet-naive tradition -
not a religious event!

I like it anyway!

Still - I hope Bill takes the chance
to rock the christmas-tree to pieces tonight!

"Happy Christmas
your "BAD SANTA",
aka STINGRAY
-from Cologne/Germany-
PS
Sermon of the day (promise: I'm serious):

The "Three Wise Men" - Melchior, Balthasar + Caspar
are buried in a golden sarcophage in"our" dome, the famous
"Cologne dome" - the third highest church-building
in the world - right in the very centre of town, next to the Rhine.
A gothic building of extra-class!

Actually, I think it has a nice groove and spacey tangents. Thanks for the reminder of this obscure song, Bill.

Oh, yeah, baby!  Excellent!

Getting a little bit Beatle-y today, eh Bill?
I've always liked this song.

I'll take "Beatles Trivia" for 400, Alex.

All Paul till the end......
I've been listening to the Beatles for years and thought I knew all their songs. Obviously I was wrong.

Thanks, RP!
Where else but here, on RP, would one ever hear Flying? Thank you BillG!

I love this song.....the bass riff is amazing.  I just wish they would have not recoreded it with all of the bass on the left......makes it hard to listen to on headphones.

It is basically a standard blues progression. But the whole arrangement takes your attention away from that fact. (Typically Beatles !)

Indeed, you are correct.

WOW!!  I've never heard this on the radio before, except for special A to Z specials.  Thanks Bill!
Indeed, a Beatles instrumental!
wow.  didn't think I would hear this on the radio.
