I heard the truth was built to bend
A mechanism to suspend the guilt
Is what you will require
And still you've got to dance, little liar

Just like those fibs to pop and fizz
And you'll be forced to take that awful quiz
And you're bound to trip, and she'll detect the fiction on your lips
And dig a contradiction up

And the clean coming will hurt
And you can never get it spotless
When there's dirt beneath the dirt
The liar takes a lot less time

I'm sure it's clear and plain to read
It's not an alibi you need just yet
Oh no, it's something for those beads of sweat
Yes, that will get you back to normal

And after you have dabbed the patch, you'll breathe
And then proceed to scratch the varnish off
That newly added calmness
So as not to raise any alarms too soon

And the clean coming will hurt
And you can never get it spotless
When there's dirt beneath the dirt

The liar takes a lot less time to decide on his saunter
Have you got itchy bones and in all your time alone
Can you hack your mind being riddled with the wrong memories?

And the clean coming will hurt
And you can never get it spotless
When there's dirt inbetween the dirt

This album was an important part of my school years, can't get enough!
oh for songs lyrics that actually make sense.... sometimes lyrics are a plain waste of energy
like like like - very athmospheric

....and the drums patterns remind a little towards ginger baker RIP(anyone?)
I ask a question :
Did he said the truth ?
Or is it just another puritanist ?
Head pounding noise, but quality noise.
This song reminds me of Cake. Must hear again before judging...
Grows on you...
Nice!
I'm still basking in the magic of Mark Knopfler - this song does nothing for me.0.
Kinda like a rake across a chalkboard... no, no, not that bad... a shovel.
I'm a good liar
This is the second time i have heard this song, and i just raised my 8 to a 9.  it's growing on me!!
pure teenage power
Great!  (as expected from Arctic Monkeys)
Excellent....I'm gunna have to buy some Arctic monkey music.

Aw bless, they're growing up and making their way in the world.
I give them a lot of credit for doing something that doesn't sound like their first album.  They may not decide to continue on in this direction, but it will add to their overall sound.  It's called growing up, and I applaud them.

I my opinion this album is great!

I agree ... this Arctic Monkeys album is a great progression from the lads from Sheffield. At first listen I didn't care for it because it didn't deliver the big sonic punches of ' .. Nightmares...' and ' .. Whatever People Say .. " . But there is some solid song crafting in this effort which bodes well for the boys and all their surrounding hype ...
Like it.......7
Love these guys!  An underrated true talent.
{#Puke}
just saw them on Later with Jules Holland.
damned talented for what looks like a bunch of pimply faced kids from any high school. My nephew look like the lead singer (hairdo and all).

I hope this isn't representitive of the rest of the album cuz this is about a 4-5 to my EARS !  What did you rate this song if I may ask?
I've heard AM songs that sounded good, but this just doesn't get it for me...perhaps after a few more spins it will click..hey I want to like it !

I rate it a 8. So I think you won't like this album

Some of us are still a little old style (or just old). :)

Thought for sure this was Camper van Beethoven when I first heard the voice  . . . .

I really don't know what to make of the new album yet...I really loved the other two, and I want them to grow and evolve, of course, but it hasn't grown on me yet...
I was suprised also to see that it was Arctic Monkeys, though I can hear it now.  It has much the same feel as the Eels' Fresh Blood.  Mikey likes it. 7.
Somewhat strange to hear this World-weary tune, with wise-beyond-their-years lyrics from these kids.

Shouldn't they be studying for their A-levels or something?
Nice°
i didn't recognize this as Artic Monkeys.  I like it though! 7
