I'm worried about you
I'm worried about me
The curves around midnight
Aren't easy to see
Flashing red warnings
Unseen in the rain
This thing has turned into
A runaway train

Long-distance phone calls
A voice on the line
Electrical miles
That soften the time
The dynamite too
Is hooked on the wire
And so are the rails
Of American Flyers

Blind boys and gamblers
They invented the blues
Will pay up in blood
When this marker comes due
To try and get off now
It's about as insane
As those who wave lanterns
At runaway trains

Steel rails and hard lives
Are always in twos
I have been here before this
And now it's with you

I'm worried about you
I'm worried about me
We're lighting the fuses
And counting to three
And what are the choices
For those who remain
The sign of the cross
On a runaway train

This thing has turned into
A runaway train
This thing has turned into
A runaway train
Our love has turned into
A runaway train

Rosanne Cash at her poetic best. This song always resonated with me...
It seems she wants to express a feeling about something she doesn't know of.  Love. Life. It's all going down the track...
True enough, but what's so 80s to me about the drumming is the sound and its placement in the mix. The beat itself isn't that different from what Max Weinberg and Kenny Aronoff play all the time, sure, but no one should be in any danger of believing that either of those players recorded this track.

Then there's Ernest Carter's drumming on "Born to Run." Different percussive planet.

Most "roots rock" or "heartland rock" has pretty standard drumbeats.  How often do Tom Petty's, John Mellencamp's, or Bruce Springsteen's drummers get to play anything outside of those straight, 4/4 beats?

super awesome song.
swell tune!!!  I would've gone into that record shop in an instant man, and with that long legged brunette hanging in the doorway and all well wooooo-hoo howdy

Before or after the Def Leppard drummer lost his arm?

I couldn't place the singer but I pegged this as an 80s song from the use of the drum machine. If that's a real drummer, this had to be one seriously boring gig.

This is horrible.

We've already got the snare mic maxed. Let's see if we can get him to hit it with an aluminum baseball bat.

(I like the song, but after Dosequis' hilarious comment I can only hear the drum track as belonging to an entirely different song. Def Leppard perhaps.)

thanx Bill, you made my day{#Cheers}
Ah, an album cover featuring a building façade that used to be a block from where I work. Also around the corner from the strip bar that was featured in Stripes.

Well, was there until that whole block was torn out for a hotel. Progress isn't always for the best.

This is not a 5.8 !

 Just made it a 5.9 !
I like this one by John Stewart. The Punch the Big Guy album is quite good.

This answers your question....

I don't usually react to the average rating scores, but jeez... it's Rosanne!  5.9?? WTF?
Is it possible for her to record a bad song?
