I was running down the road
The fear was all I knew
I was looking for a soul that's real
Then I ran into you
And that cherry blossom tree
Was a gateway to the sun
And friendship once it's won
It's won... it's one

Northside just across the river to Southside
That's a long way here
All the green and all the gold
The hurt you hide, the joy you hold
The foolish pride that gets you out the door
Up on Cedarwood Road, on Cedarwood Road

Sleepwalking down the road
Not waking from those dreams
'Cause it's never dead it's still in my head
It was a warzone in my teens
I'm still standing on that street
Still need an enemy
The worst ones I can't see
You can... you can

Northside just across the river to Southside
That's a long way here
All the green and all the gold
The hurt you hide, the joy you hold
The foolish pride that sends you back for more
Up on Cedarwood Road, on Cedarwood Road

If the door is open it isn't theft
You can't return to where you've never left
Blossoms falling from a tree they cover you and cover me
Symbols clashing, bibles smashing
Paint the world you need to see
Sometimes fear is the only place we can call home
Cedarwood Road

A heart that is broken
Is a heart that is open

Yup. Same here.  I wish Bono would just go away.

I thought I was the only one... ;)
Wish they had broken up after Achtung Baby.

Wow. It boggles the mind. Since no one but my wife bought the last album, they had to give this one away. I hope for the next one they start paying me to listen. I listened through this once and nothing caught my ear, and the Ramones tribute song??? What a joke.

Now for the album cover? Trying to stir up controversy? sad sad sad

Totally agree - the album is just not sticking for me at this point - I love the music but the singing just feels out of sync - like an afterthought - dubbed in afterwards without the emotion.
An automatic 1 for spamming much of the world regardless of what the music is like.

All they (Apple and U2) had to do is so say it is free to download and everyone would have been reasonably happy.

Amazing how far this band has fallen.  The Edge still has some chops, but g-d what a mess overall.  (New Tom Petty far exceeds new U2 and I wouldn't have predicted that  30 years ago).

yes, fallen to the level of Spam

I auditioned this album yesterday, lying by the pool, eyes closed and nothing to distract me. As a die-hard U2 fan—I really like the new musical twists and turns it takes.

No one keeps doing the same artistic things they did in their early 20s when they're in their 50s.....

I look forward to the tour.

I agree. It takes a few listens to appreciate.

So are you saying that if it were Tom Petty, you would have liked it but it's U2 so you don't like it?

Or are you just saying that you also don't like Tom Petty?
If I had a pool and U2 came on the radio then my radio would drown.

To me, U2 simply does not exist anymore. Only a handful of GREAT albums in the distant past
But from this album, this song is probably "best"
Just my opinion ;)

Had first full listen yesterday. Album really good overall. This is one of the best tracks for sure. In case you have been in Siberia - the album is a free download on iTunes.

Sounds like a song that should have been on their "Pop" album....which I didn't like.
solid album. thought they might have jumped the shark back in the zooropa days, but it was just a hiccup.
