Even though this song has been butchered by tv and commercials - its one hell of a godlike song! 10/10
This is from 1972? This sounds like a typical RP track from 2010, same sort of complexity, arrangements, melody, etc. This man was WAY ahead of his time.

Hate to say that I’d never heard of Nick Drake until the VW commercial, but I am thankful to whatever agency did that. My life has been better because of it.

Watched the YouTube documentary on him last night (A Skin Too Few). Sad.

I love Nick Drake and I like Pink Moon, but you guys are wearing it out and he has other great songs to mine from. I don't want this to become my Free Bird or Stairway, due to overplay. And PSD is not the whole answer, as I want to hear more of him here. Maybe PSD would give me that; haven't used it much, usually listen in my own player.

Nick Drake has been ruined for me by all those bon-homie movies - as soon as he strikes up, it's meant to represent the protagonist getting into a warm introspective reflective mood. Nick Hornsby and his ilk have turned Nick Drake into an emotional cliche.

Pink Moon was in an ad for the VW Bug in the United states. I really liked the ad and wanted to know who the singer was going "Ping, ping, ping..." Was very happy to find out while listening to RP.

Never having lived on Madison avenue, or actually even been to it, I'd appreciate a little background to this statement. I love the tune, but don't understand your comment.
Pink Moon was in an ad for the VW Bug in the United states. I really liked the ad and wanted to know who the singer was going "Ping, ping, ping..." Was very happy to find out while listening to RP.
Unfortunately, Madison Avenue and the TV networks here love—love—to beat commercials to death, so I can understand why people got sick of the song. Fortunately, American ingenuity led to the TV remote (with a mute button, sirdroseph).
The New York Times had this bit in the inventor's recent obituary:
As Mr. Polley, by then 86, proudly told an interviewer in 2002: “The flush toilet may have been the most civilized invention ever devised, but the remote control is the next most important. It’s almost as important as sex.”

This song should be the representative poster child for reasons Madison Avenue should not be allowed to coop music. I cannot stand this wonderful song!

Currently at an exceptionally high 9:2 rating ratio of 56.5 (a better measure of opinion than the 10:1 ratio because no one should take ratings of 1 seriously).
