Why do I want to cry? So beautiful, I wonder why music like this isn't being made today (it probably is, but we rarely get to hear it because the production houses that push the music we get to hear don't see it as 'profitable' as a majority of the crap that we are cursed to hear all the time).
Utter magic.
Direct segue from Led Zeppelin to JS Bach. I don't know of any connection, and doubtful that RP intends one, but it's ingenious. Like overlaying a blue period cubist masterpiece over a Vermeer and seeing it's a match.
PSD got me here from The Stone Roses blasphemy. Much better. I'd like to get more classical music in the RP mix.
beautiful, moving
I think J.S. owes something to Vivaldi here...

How about some composers just a little less mainstream? I could stand some Smetana or Borodin, or the like.

Not his best composition, but still an 8.
ah yes, from Bach's 'White Album'

Could use a little more cowbell. Otherwise excellent.

This has to be the best station on the planet. Now if you'll play Prokofiev's Montagues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet- best station in the solar system!
My first ever rating of 10. Great music, great playlist. You guys are the greatest.

It's not your station, so please don't go telling people to go away. Bill and Becky need more listeners, not fewer. RP is for all - it's not an exclusive club.

Abbey Road segue to Bach. Beautiful! Well done, RP. You are the masters of quality radio.

To break up the eclectic mix Bill might have put some house or rap crap but instead put a touch of heaven. Congrats Bill and Rebecca

I'm not much for classical (unless performed live or very early, say Tallis, for example) and I am not much for this. Mozart's Requiem or Barbar's Adagio on days when it is sunny where I live (which has fewer sunny days than Seattle). I give it a 3. If I wanted classical, I would be listening to my local NPR station.

magnificent you now have my undivided attention
I never regret listening to you every night! Next Level Music. My night is complete. Goodnight great people
The Live Version circa 1730 was most excellent!
Bach and Perlman. Music is a time machine, matching perfection with perfection.

Bill must be taking a break with these two back to back!
Thanks for this. And 86% of the other music you play that I enjoy.
(Another plug, though, for no more music with didgeridoo (sp?) in it.)
Yeah, I'm counter-obsessed!

Almost 300 years old- now through electronic networks- this masterpiece reaches the bottom of my soul.
Thrillingly beautiful, remarkable, astonishing!

Hippie Dog makes another appearance, since this Bach piece sounds a lot like the slower sections of Spring and Summer in Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

I certainly wouldn't want to draw listeners away from our beloved Radio Paradise but there is another station that plays funky mixes like this. Fip Radio is a French government station mixing up, for example, Lily Allen, Gainsbourg, Cash and Verdi all in the same 15 mins.
Sounds very cool. Thanks for the tip—I'll check it out.
Edit: I did check it out, and it's great! Merci beaucoup!
On a stressful day as a wage-slave doing pointless unrewarding work and assailed by even more pointless (but pointy-headed) managers, this is very, very welcome indeed. The only shame is that it'll eventually have to stop. Balm for the brain, and very affecting. 9 from the chilled Nottingham jury.

Thanks, I needed that.....
Oh. This is SO lovely. (Sigh...)
Great to see people giving this a '1' - takes all sorts, I suppose! Comes in at somewhere around 12 on my personal scale..
We need an "ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" emoticon.
I have most classicals in my lib.Just because its one C. you don't have to give it a 10. Looking at the music chart one thinks that we are all tuned in to the wrong Radio.

May I suggest starting with Yo Yo Ma's recordings of the unaccompanied cello suites? And also a good recording of the complete Brandenburg concerti (that is, Nos. 1-6)?

Please, whoever uploaded this version, post the artist(s) that performed it.
The violinist is the late Arthur Grumiaux, who always played elegantly, with the English Chamber Orchestra.
I've registered just now (though I've been a RP listener for 1+ year) just to comment on such a wonderful choice of music. "Good music" is stuff like this, besides -mostly- everything else played here, and I dont see why it shouldnt be played more, along all the rest..
What a great performance!

I love that this isn't the most obvious choice. It's so yummy, and not even close to overplayed.
'Godlike' is probably the only appropriate rating for music that survived for several hundreds of years and still thrills people.

Lovely!
Sweet, smooth, heartache. Years working in a coffeehouse while this played on the stereo makes me yearn for a really good Cafe Borgia.
Profoundly good.
This is really soothing.
Having a glass of wine in the evening, listening to this and winding down from the day. Ahhh
