Inside a heart of summer soul
Don't let them take it away
Cause inside's something solid gold
So don't let them throw it away
Words, they mean nothing
So you can't hurt me
I said words, they mean nothing
So you can't stop me
I said your eyes, they say nothing
So you can't hurt me
(On summer days like these)
I said words they mean nothing
So you can't hurt me
Follow your own path from here
So don't listen to what they say
(They don't know nothing)
Cause inside, you've a heart of gold
So don't let them take this away
Words, they mean nothing,
So you can't hurt me
(On summer days like these)
I said words, they mean nothing,
So you can't stop me
(On summer days like these)
I said your eyes, they say nothing,
So you can't fault me
I said words, they mean nothing,
So you can't hurt me
Inside a heart of pure soul
A sun rising and falling away, like your soul
Cause here comes something wonderful
So don't let them throw it away
Words, they mean nothing
So you can't hurt me
(On summer days like these)

Doves are hit or miss for me. This tune is a HIT! Thanx RP!
I loves the Doves
I really do have to mute this one. It sounds good for a minute, but it is way too repetitive. It will stick and play an endless loop in your head if you're not careful.
8 10

I love this album too, but I'd say you're taking it a bit far. But to each his own. This track and Caught by the River are 9s in my book. The rest of the album is full of solid 6s, 7s and 8s.
Forget the lyrics, listen to these sounds on headphones. I give any track from this album a 10. Period.

This stinks.
Kinda a letdown after the Moody Blues.
But I still like the Doves.
Compelling, catchy, simple albeit richly layered.

I agree. Can't better music to play than this be found?I like the song Firesuite, but this is not RP worthy...

This sounds good...until the vocals begin. Offkey lead vocal + offkey harmonies = rating of a 2. At best.
This stinks.

Man, I really need to upload some Renaldo and the Loaf, "Songs for Swinging Larvae"
As my dad might have said when I was little, "You keep crying and I'll give you something to cry about."

The Ride comparisons continue :-)
Like 'em both.

We all need a little repetition every once in a while so the truly great stuff sounds even better. We all need a little repetition every once in a while so the truly great stuff sounds even better.

Time to get a new dentist!
This is one of my favorite travel songs...recline the airplane seat and fade out. Great tune from a great album.
see Ride...

Not bad but theres better stuff on the album than this.
True, true. Really like The Doves, though. Both of their cd's (not counting the b-sides CD which is decent) are very good IMHO.
pleasant pop puff - nothing impressive or offensive
Repetitive and boring, no thanks

F for Whineing.
F for spelling, too, as long as we're talking grades.

Congrats, you've just one-uped braindel. You are now the supreme idiot!!
No fair. I still want to be the supreme idiot!
True, it seems like every one of my comments that I look back on appear to have come from a moronic 13-year-old (does that happen with anyone else? Was I drunk?), but is that reason to be so harsh? I just wanted to express my appreciation for a good song.
I love this station and I love being able to make comments, but so often it seems like I'm listening with a lot of pretentious, self-indulgent pricks who think that they have to show off their "intelligence" by being critical of everything. Are they unhappy? Guess I shouldn't take to much stock from someone who can't spell.
words. . . they mean nothing. . .
Cool - I like The Doves.
Tchau!

Sounds a lot like a Ride (master shoegazers) song... ;)
Doesn't this sound a bit like that song by the Lightening seeds ? Pure and simple I think it was called.
At first pass, it looks like opinion is equally divided on this song, until you look for multiple posts by the same person.
I like it, for what its worth. ;)
Not bad but theres better stuff on the album than this.
These guys ROCK!!! I just don\'t understand how people listen to this and don\'t like it. Simply incredible. Last Broadcast is a great Album, better than lost souls I think... KEEP PLAYING DOVES!!!

I liked this. It reminds me of the late Velvet Crush; I miss them.

Yeah, "Lost Souls" was far better..in my none too humble opinion

Interesting range of commentary on this one. Personally, I think it\'s very good. I\'d never heard of Doves prior to this, but I find I enjoy their music quite a bit.

Please play \"Pounding\" - it\'s the best track on this great album.
I was going to say I thought this was Ride but I see the shoegazers have already been here. :)
THis still holds an \"8\" after a number of encounters.
Storming track! :D
I first heard this band here on RP and I immediately went out and purchased everything I could get my hands on by the Doves.
I love the words to this track! :D
A friend of mine in London turned me onto the Doves about 9 months ago... glad to find somewhere that gives them some play.

I like it, but am v. scared by the fellow whispering \'what is he doing\' half way thru.
I listen at work with headphones, usually v. loud. \'What is he doing\' makes me look round expecting to see the boss peering over my shoulder!
I like this song more and more each time they play it.
OK, I hereby retract my prior statement that the end of this song gets annoying. I now enjoy it all the way through.
It makes me feel as though I'm inside a kaleidoscope.
...And that's a good thing, I think.
This song has a problem: Great when first time heard, excellent at second time, likeable at third and so on.
I think it\'s not a classic that you can hear forever, because it gets on your nerves soon.

Some Curve and Slowdive would be great to throw in the mix, too!
Tambien sois pesaos con Doves. Por lo menos esta cancion esta bien.

Uh...
Yep...
It\'s got a bit of \'Heroes\' in it, I think.
Only a producer like Brian Eno and a singer like David Bowie to make it come alive, are missing.

From one shoegazer to another - please do, Kurt!

Simplistic cord progressions, but it works really well! I like this quite a bit!
this stuff sounds a lot lighter than their last album, but I still love it.
THis is great!
