This album was released my Sr Year of High school. I still consider it new Who. Keith Moons last album, and I never really followed the Who after. “Who the fuck are you”., of course AM rock stations played and edited version…… classic rock n roll

It's kinda funny for me to read all the negative comments about this song & The Who overall. I was born in 1953 & was lucky enough to work in a great record store in the 70's. The Who were never a great band for me back then. Now however, I have come to love most of their wonderful music.

Many folk who were too young to rock out in the 70's, an awesome musical era IMHO, only know this song from its incessant repetition of the refrain as the theme song of some TV show (CSI) that started out good but got increasingly lame over the years. I got sick of hearing the theme, too, as my wife was a big CSI fan. Despite the overplay, I still love the Who. On this, they did sell out, just as Pete feared. I remember when this came out, they did a video — before MTV — where Pete windmills like a madman in the studio alone to lay down the guitar, then it shows him playing notes on piano and synthesizer, and Roger was tunefully screaming, and Moonie blazing away on the drums, meanwhile John stands there like The Ox, fingers flying but stout as a tree... I think I'm understanding why people want vinyl - it was the very beginning of true uncensored music. Anyone with vinyl and a turntable is guaranteed to hear the ORIGINAL work of an artist, warts and all. Everything after vinyl has been digitally remastered (translation: censored, modified, upgraded, "enhanced," made more "sell-able.")
Well, this settles it - I'm going back to vinyl. A friend of mine just informed me that there's a unit that converts vinyl to CD, and it's actually almost in my price-range. The conversion takes a long time, but I'm not employed, and winter's coming on, so maybe this might be something I can do. I'll need blank CDs and jackets or jewel cases, but it'll be fun.
We'll see how it goes...

Everything after vinyl has been digitally remastered (translation: censored, modified, upgraded, "enhanced," made more "sell-able.")

I enjoy seeing the video for this song. It's fun to see The Who perform. Especially fun to see Keith Moon bash the hell out of his kit. As far as Who songs go...this is NOT very Who-like. To me...the essence of Who sound is something like 'Real Me'. THAT...my friend...is a Who song. This? Not so much.

Even Bestbuy sells turntables that burn vinyl into mp3.s. I can't speak to the quality of the file, haven't tried it yet.
