We get to be a ripple in the water
We get to be a rock that's thrown
We get to be a boy on the bridge
Standing over the reservoir
I see the water lap along the shoreline
The buried forest of a man-made lake
Cemeteries are laying underneath it
Your heart like a damm when it breaks.
We are floating, we are swimming
And in this moment we are forgetting
What we costs, what it takes
For one perfect world when we look the other way
I'm okay if I don't look a little closer
I am driving with the tank full
I'm okay I if don't see beyond the shore
The sun is blistering the black top road
I'm okay I don't have to do the killing
We are talking cellular and mobile
Or know what the killing is for
As if it's come kind of cure for this world of woe
We are talking, we are driving
And in this moment we are denying
What it costs, what it takes
For one perfect world when we look the other way
It's one perfect world
when we look the other way
It's one perfect world
If you can't see beyond the myth of isolation
And the miracle of daybreak doesn't move you anymore
Connect the points and see the constellations
As the night comes down on the reservoir
We are swimming, we are floating
And in this moment we are beholden
To what it costs, to what it takes
For one perfect world
Can we learn to live another way?
It's one perfect world
Can we learn to live another way?
It's one perfect world
We get to be a rock that's thrown
We get to be a boy on the bridge
Standing over the reservoir
I see the water lap along the shoreline

Maybe Af-GAY-nistan won't demonize it so much, try there...
BTW, what prez are you referring to if you are in BC??
I'm a U.S. Citizen, and an intelligent if often appalled observer of American Government and politics. Not long after writing that I was offered a job that would eventually take me back to New York State. Since the Election I must admit to occasionally wondering "What WAS I Thinking ?"

Trekhead? I think you misspelled crackhead.

In this currently far less than Perfect World , especially in this far less than Perfect Country, with our dimwitted but dangerous President ready to rally the Fundamentalist Hoards in a cynical play for holding on to power by demonizing same sex marriage and by extension me and my loved ones, brothers and sisters. ....we can still do with some preaching.
And gays and lesbians can surely benefit from uplifting moments with our heros and heroines. So will the rest of you just kindly butt out for the occasional cut and let us have our Pride moment without the whinging outta some kind of respect for the shite we have to put up with.

not the best IG song I've ever heard...kinda "yawny".

Is all their music so "preachy"? Not to mention that it all sounds the same. Have to agree with other posters: I'm bored with this group.

Boring, isn't it ?
I'm definately a fan of their older material but this one is growing on me.

Were we having too much fun?
I think it nice that, despite the rating, all the comments for this song are positive. Bravo RP listeners for letting those who enjoy the IG enjoy the music!
Don't love them, but admire the harmony!
I will always have a soft spot for the Indigo Girls har har.
"when the miracle of daybreak doesn't move you anymore"... nice. this whole album rocks.
Listen to Emily play the banjo on this track! And Amy on a 12 string guitar!
