Doves are hit or miss for me. This tune is a HIT! Thanx RP!
What I love about Doves (and Elbow) is that they are carrying the flag for progressive rock, but absent the over-blown pomposity. And capes.
One of the best album opening tracks out there. Really set's the scene.
Guys, if you haven't listened Lost Souls in its entirety- you should. What a band.
Kind of reminds me of Khruangbin

awesome! ty RP!
Sounds as if it wants to go somewhere but never does. A 3 is probably unfair, but it is "Ho Hum"

Agree about the “Rock on” reference and would add “Tubular bells”
There is a splendid version of this mixed with Rock on, by David Essex. Honestly, it’s worth giving it a go - better than you’d think.

That would be very cool to listen to. "Rock On" really stood out in the musical crowd when it came out. Thanks for the tip!
Truly rehabilitative stoner rock
My favourite Doves album - for me, they are at their peak here.

Thought this was a new track from Air, my mistake.

It's good. But it stops too much
so lovely.

these guys really do a nice job of blending the atmospheric with the dramatic...
I REALLY like this one. And I'm not much of a Doves fan, either.

Because the more and more music they put out, the more and more it all sounds the same!

Loved the Doves DVD we recently rented from Netflix. The disc UI is weird, but the recorded UK concert was terrific.
This is quite good . . . .

Yes, the whole album is terrific. My favourite track on it is "The Man Who Told Everything" (which unfortunately is not on the RP playlist).
Lost Souls was their debut LP. Definitely worth getting. Just like their other two albums actually (and hopefully the new one that will come out in 2009!).
Thank you...I will definitely check it out!!

Love Love Love this music! The lyric too You you you...
I love this song. I worked on the sound on an irish film called Disco Pigs and we used this track in one of the really emotive scenes and it was amazing. It's a great unknown film by the way, directed by Kirsten Sheridan and lead by Cillian Murphy (starred in 28 Days Later)
Wow - this thing just kinda came out of nowhere on a big white horse and swept me away to the steppes of Russia, where armies were in collision and battles for the future of civilisation were being waged.
Then, just as it looked like the forces of evil were going to prevail, up popped Alice with a giant mushroom.
Wow. Now I have to put the album on . . .

It's got a groove, but whatever distortion they're using is driving me nuts! Blech!
This is what music should feel like.
This is some good shit. A 9 right outa da box!
Note to self, get a buncha Doves and put it in my iPod.

Never heard of this band til this station. Interesting segue from New Order, an all-time fave. Thanks RP.
Funny, I just got done listening to this CD and decided to turn on RP!!! Great minds think alike.
Wow! This sounds a lot like something off of Zero 7's Simple Things. Maybe this is where Zero 7 got some of their inspiration from.
Do I hear cats? Meow?
I'm already a big fan of this CD, but this was the 1st time I heard this tune with the headphones on. Yowza!
