I almost dialed your number
When I thought the coast was clear
'Cause it's looked up for so long at me
And said call me please

But the place was closing
The countergirl turned the sign
The cooks were getting their coats
And I got mine
And said goodnight to the sea of empty seats

And if I am a sailor
Then you are the warm gulf wind
And you've blown into this little port
And roused my dreams again

I see my mouth moving
When I talk to you, I do
I see my lips and I feel like a kid
I can't keep something hid

'Cause I've been under the paper
You were writing on
You left your impression long after you'd gone on me
Marks only I can see

When we say sometime later
You know that we don't say when
You have blown into this little port
And roused my dreams again

I almost dialed your number,
When I thought the coast was clear
Cause it's looked up for so long at me,
And said call me please.

When we say sometime later,
You know that we don't say when,
You have blown into this little port
And roused my dreams again.
Roused my dreams.

Sailor to wind...

 Ciao Sarah!  Chissà chi sarà...
Not sure where I've been, but I haven't heard this before. The chord changes and harmonies are gorgeous.

Nice.
Really love the chorus on this.
One of my fav Kingston artists...........
also on a fine sunny day......
Such a breezy, spring time song on such a wet, chilly day...{#Cheesygrin}
Sweet! One of the first songs I heard on RP, one of the first in my Radio Paradise Favorites playlist, and one I haven't heard in ages.
I remember catching her shows when she was living in Kingston Ontario. Super nice person.
I always get a smile on my face when I hear the opening chords.

Haven't thought about this song in a couple of years but always enjoyed it quite a bit.

It's okay if you play this one every day, though.

Is it me, or does yer woman look a lot like Susan Sarandon in this photo? A great song and fine voice - 8 from the newly-smitten Nottingham jury {#Hearteyes}
This is good...
I almost liked this number.

Exactly! A very fitting subject for a song. I believe the Police did something similar with "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic". It's a much more interesting topic than simply making the call.

I have to represent - she's Canadian.
And has a new album that came out last week. I'll have to see what's good to upload.

In this case fear, or procrastination, worked in our favor. Nice tune. {#Music}

a cool groove in this song. melikee.
Go to Sleep. Another great song off the same album, but careful, it's one that will put you to sleep, which is why they would call it correctly a lullaby. What a great poet, musician.

You mean actually SLEEP?

Why would you want to do that (if she's actually got her hooks in you)?

(put's hand against gjeeg's arm) eh...she's with me man.

I almost don't wanna like this song.

Oddly, never jumped out at me until Bill started playing Jaymay. Now I hear Sarah Harmer and think, "She sounds like Jaymay - nice." Yeah, I know I have my chronology askew. 7

You've got that right. We have actually turned into environmental villains, blocking progress on combating global warming on every front. I would like to simply blame the present government ( and its narrow tar sands focus ) for this sad state of affairs but, seeing as how this government was democratically elected, we all have to share the blame. I don't think that the general population, as a whole, gets how serious this situation is. They think that global warming means that we will have nice warm winters so bring it on....we are in deep, deep  trouble...with rising sea levels Nova Scotia will turn into an island.
Well, she definitely rouses my dreams of what port to blow in...  {#Hearteyes}
Wow she sounds like Jill Barber...{#Wink}

Making a mental note for myself so that I look into this album in the future. More than enjoyable tune.
Overall, the album isn't bad. In my opinion, it starts off quite strong; the two best songs on it are this one and "Greeting Card Aisle", nos. 2 & 3 on the CD, respectively. Near the end, the songs get a little too slow & similar-sounding for me...still good, but not quite what the beginning of the disc is. Still, an overall solid effort.
She has one of the best voices in music today. Her album "Songs For Clem" is old country standards that she recorded in her house for her father. Her best album though is "You Were Here" it's just amazing for so many reasons, highly recommended for everyone.
Nice! I like!

thanks for giving these under heard artists some air play. God forbid we should have to hear that retread david byrned-out again . . . .
She's Canadian? Never would have guessed. She looks pretty normal to me.

Indeed. While I like it a lot (and even rated it a 9) it's mostly throw-away pop.

I very much enjoy the process of music analysis - of technique, craft, and lyrical content. I find this just as fun as the emotional or instinctual side of music enjoyment. Plus what are we supposed to do in a text-based forum besides TALK ABOUT the songs? We can't all post bananas in every song. At least I hope not. That would crash my browser.

So true. I think the chorus set my first rating, and I think I'm gonna lower it today.
I am biased against Sarah unfairly, not her fault really. But I don't find her music to be special in any sort of way regardless. Bah.

Her album You Were Here is one of my all-time favorites. She\'s a phenomenal talent. I recently saw another great Canadian talent Feist, and she namechecked Sarah and said she was her favorite songwriter.
Got the CD--well worth it!
Wow - really a lot of great stuff coming out of the Great White North, isn't there? She's amazing.
this is lovely.

I decided that I liked this song before I saw what she looked like... scout's honor
not bad
I met Sarah several times in Vancouver -- I went out with her brother for a time years ago. She's a terrific human as well as a wonderful musician. There's such a vulnerability in her voice. Lodestar, from You Were Here, is one of my favorite songs ever.
I like this more each time I hear it.

Buy 'em both for less than 10 bucks (used) on Amazon. Well, before shipping. Even then you are still cheaper than ONE at retail. I have never had a problem with used cds from Amazon (knock on my wooden head)

Canada... such high creativity and talent per capita. Winnipeg, one of Canada's most depressingly cold cities in it's second lamest province (after Ontario of course ) is also one of it's most culturally prolific. I wonder if that explains my first point. No offence to all you Manitobans.
An RP original in my book, definitely grown comfortable with it.
excellent! well done!
great canadian musician, thanks bill
Decent.
anything from this album -or anything from Harmer - is an 8 or above for me....and tickets go on sale tomorrow for her next gig in town! (in fact - I believe she is singing about my town in this song!)
Another nice one from Sarah.
never heard about her before... i liked this song the first time i heard it... its very nice.

I have to admit, that is a really cool cover! I just did a girl's senior photo shoot. I think I will search out a similar head shot and try making her face B&W (or sepia) and leave the background in color just like this album cover.
I added 1 mark to my rating after seeing the cover photo.
