I scare myself when I'm without you
I scare myself, the moment that you're gone
I scare myself when I let my thoughts run
And when they're running
I keep thinking of you
And when they're running
What can I do?
I scare myself and I don't mean lightly
I scare myself, it can get frightening
I scare myself to think what I could do
I scare myself, it's some kind of voodoo
And with that voodoo
I keep thinking of you
And with that voodoo
What can I do?
And with that voodoo
I keep thinking of you
And with that voodoo
What can I do?
But it's so, so very different when we're together
And I'm so, so, so much calmer, I feel better
'Cause the stars already crossed our paths forever
And the sooner that we realize it, the better
And then I'll be with you and I won't scare myself
And I'll know what to do and I won't scare myself
And my thoughts will run and I won't scare myself
And I'll think of you and I won't scare myself
''...it's me I'm scaring...
...it's me I'm scaring...
...it's me I'm scaring...''
I just ride my motorcycle a bit too fast. 58yr old arthritic me doesn't have the balance and reactions even 48yr old me had. Far easier and lower speeds will scare meself, now.
57yo here with a 2007 Speed Triple 1050. Can confirm.
All I have to do is get up in the morning and look in the mirror. ; )

After She Had Blinded Me With Science...

This.
Hardly a decent Cover of, my favorite,
Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks.
Caught my attention.
Thanks. RP.

I loved this album back in college; it's worth a full listen on the old turntable.

What a fantastic mood
Dan Hicks does an updated version of this with Rickie Lee Jones on his Beating the Heat Album thats pretty good also but it got insta-sorried on the LRC when I uploaded it. I still Like Dan Hicks original version from Striking It Rich the best though...
One of the reasons I listen to Radio Paradise is that if I hear a different version of a song that I know, it is a 50/50 chance that I didn't realize the version I grew up with was a cover.
What is this nonsense all about??
I regularly scare myself. Perhaps it’s a lifestyle thing!
I saw Dan Hicks do this live at "The Last Resort" in Grayslake IL back around '72.
Edit: I tried uploading the Rickie Lee Jones version of this to the LRC but it got insta-sorried...
His first 4 albums are great! Last Train to Hicksville has a great tune, 'Long Comes a Viper' which is speed scat singing at its best! It'll blow your mind!!!
Couldn't agree more!!! This is dreck!!!
Couldn't agree more. I absolutely love this album. I must admit that I prefer this version over the Dan Hicks version, mainly because this is the 'original' to me.

Looking in the mirror during an acid trip does the trick. Pretty effectively, I must say.
A lot of folks have recommended the Return to Hicksville compilation. I think Striking It Rich!, which has the original version of this song, is Hicks's most coherent statement with one version of the Hot Licks.
I was thinking the same thing(s).
Caught Dan at an outdoor pops festival a couple of summers ago at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in (the aptly-named) Grass Valley, CA. It was hilarious to hear him rambling on about hash brownies before an audience comprised primarily of septo- and octogenarians. I'm not sure the promoters had any idea who they were booking; they probably saw a picture of a group with two female vocalists and a violinist and thought, "Hey, this looks OK...."
i love this, and am a huge TD fan too, but really love ALIENS ATE MY BUICK and ASTRONAUTS AND HERETICS more.
Thomas Dolby put out some fantastic music - absolutely love this CD. Loved the little round spectacles and his mad hair, as well!
...And Egon Spengler, seperated at birth?:

We heard Dan Hick's original version earlier today. It's WAY better, although I understand why Bill elected to play this today.
Who is the female singer on the 1st half of this version?
Credits list Lesley Fairbairn as backing vocals.
