As I fall asleep, to black and white TV
If I float away, in my recurring dream
Each winter dreams, electricity
And there are words to say
And there are songs to sing
But I can hardly speak at all
Oh, I'm on my way to a holiday in real time
Float a mile away, say we'll be OK
Dear Valentine
Now quietly we peek across the street
Perfectly cut, perfectly mean
But it's not complete, no not at all
Oh, I'm on my way to a holiday in real time
Float a mile away, say we'll be OK
Dear Valentine

Ditto I like Guster, but this one is ponderous, tedious and boring. Not their best effort.
I love Guster, but not this song. Sounds too much like The Doves and that is never a good thing!

Nice use of a legless lizard on the album cover-
Are you basing that on eyelids? Looks like a yellow ratsnake to me. Interested, please expand!Legless Glass Lizard in my garden - species of special concern, but not on endangered list yet.

Such a good album!!!
A great album end to end. The first Guster album I picked up and still their best, IMO.

"not technically brilliant"? What does that mean? Guster is as technically excellent—even brilliant—band as there is around these days. The harmonies (something technical) alone are worth the price of admission. The arrangement (something else technical) simple yet effective. And the choice of instrumentation (yet something else technical), especially the trumpet in the chorus and coda, is exceptional. Then again, maybe I just don't know brilliance from its lack...we agree, tho', that it's one gem of a pop song.
Beautiful chord changes and melody in this song.
Not technically brilliant but very effective in creating mood.
A gem of a little pop song and one of my favorites from El Guster.

Not bad, I can hear some the Doves in this one,....
Yeap!
that was an interesting transision from Steven Wilson's Harmony Korine.

Yes, tasty chords and melody. I'm not sure if I want to hear songs that are "technically brilliant" anyhow. I guess it's all relative though.

Me too. And weirdly, I love Guster and I have this album, but clearly I haven't listened to it much because I didn't even recognize them here. LOVE Lost and Gone Forever and Keep It Together most

Gotta stand up for the snake. Great album cover. Song and group are not bad either.

Guster: Happy music for happy people. :)
Whiney little gits.
Can't shake off the sense that the verse has just a hint of QOTSA in it. Weird.
Man!
There's a lot of quality tunes on this disc!

Agreed, but still a nice song. And it, like every other song on this CD, takes a couple of listens before it really grows on you.
well said...and it has done such for me.
Good song to fall asleep to. And I mean that in a good way.
Fine song. I just don't like the snake on the cover art.

Totally! Take a couple weeks, drive around Alaska in summer, with this in heavy rotation in the CD player...
and it WILL grow on you -- like moss on the north side of a tree!

Plodding. Boringly simplistic bass line.
Meh. Sounds uninspired.
Coldplay similarities.
Sounds like the end of the tonight show with Jay Leno. The brass I mean.
Just got this CD from Amazon today. Can't wait to give it a listen (I have to watch The Flaming Lips concert DVD UFOs at the Zoo first though hehe)
Wow! Surprised this one gets played.....its gotta be the lowest point on a superb album, by a spectacular group.
I just ordered my Guster pillowcase!
okay, it's not for me, it's for my daughter
