What's passed these hands?
All these drugs and one night stands
So I tremble when I think of she'd do
She'd say something like:
"You're no good,
You're like the junkies in this neighbourhood"
We all need a fix, I guess I need one too
But I'm trying madly to calm these nerves
With something new
I got this heavy debt, I've got nothing left
But this daunting weight slung round my neck
You got the callous mouth, all your endless doubts
We spent this fifteen weeks, trying to work it out
Do think we're getting to something new?
Oh God, not another fight
I'm always trying to get the details right
I remember when you told me you felt saved
When you promised you'd lay flowers on my grave
Just like they used to do
Is it something new?
And now here I stand
With these blood soaked hands
On this sleepless night, that never ends
And these songs I sing
With these hopes that I cling to
Desperately wondering
Are we finally getting to something new?
Is it something new?
Are we finally to something new?
All these drugs and one night stands
So I tremble when I think of she'd do
She'd say something like:

I lked this song before, the fact that it's showing up on RP only confirms my suspicion that Bill and I have remarkable taste.... Ha!
Ahhh, Yes. it's amazing how a few of the old songs like that that we grew up with can still make you just stop what you're doing, and flash back to whateverbyou were doing back the early 80s.

Today I like how this strikes me making me think of Brit Pop gems like The Jam and yes I hear New Order too -- whoah, dig it! Bill now cues up The English Beat! Dancing my way now to the kitchen for a drink!

The problem I have with most of these alternative tunes today that are toe tapers are that they are only that. Do your work to them but that's it, but then work work will be just that too.

"The rest of The Airborne Toxic Event is much more jaunty and riff-oriented. Some listeners have been disappointed by follow-up single "Does This Mean You're Moving On?". Like the superior "Happiness Is Overrated", it follows the recent trend of putting jagged, trebly indie guitars to a punchy, near-disco rhythm. Both tracks are fun, but compared to "Sometime Around Midnight", deliberately lightweight. There's a jangly, Americana-tinged feel to "Missy", while "Something New" pairs an approximation of New Order's "Age of Consent" riff with a girlish backing vocal from Bulbrook, resulting in the album's most pure pop moment.

I heard this song and thought, wow this sounds familiar. Now I remember - it was the big skip on Tuesday 9/1/09!. How long did it take to fix? I couldn't take it anymore and had to switch streams.

I bet this wins the most comments added to a song in one day award.

There is still a possibilty that this is actually the original uncut collector version.
National tragedy is over.
The sounds of Bill trying to fix it...

This is "Something New"?? Airborne Toxic Event is totally ripping off Fat Boy Slim!
How does an MP3 skip?
LISTEN VERY CLOSELY!! After a while, you can hear a voice in there issuing commands.
This sort of reminds me of the reaction of Forest Gump's following when he decides he doesn't feel like running anymore.
Gotta say I prefer glitchy Airborne Toxic Event to normal Barenaked Ladies.
This must be quite a job for those MP3 compressors!

Wow! The CD skip reminds me of the olden days when albums used to get stuck. Haven't heard that in a while. (Or is it just my computer glitching out?)

Bill, hit the record player....

Looks like a quick way to see who's listening.

I don't think that's my machine skipping this song. Is it??
... or maybe it's part of the song. Very avant garde.

Okay, funs over, now give the Arctic Monkey's their sound back.
i like! that opening tune really perked me up.
This is my favourite song played on Radio Paradise! Love it, love it, love it! When is this band coming to Vancouver, Canada?!

Darn! I thought it was a reference to farting.

Loved the guitars straight away, but the vocals don't do much for me, just OK.

what a cheerful song about an addiction! refreshing!
Got this CD at the used CD store last week, and I'm really enjoying it.
My friend said they opened for Kings of Leon here in Santa Barbara a few weeks ago, and totally blew everyone away, totally owned the stage....everyone loved them....
The bass line is straight from New Order. I like it.

Saw them on Letterman a few weeks ago - it was a bigger, more dramatic song than this - excellent.
This song however doesn't do much for me.

Always think it's going to be some Replacements track until the vocals start.
Which is not to say I don't enjoy this ATE song, but it's a disappointment when one anticipates The Replacements.

Nice guitar work, but the singer needs to learn his vocal boundaries.

Fresh synth of some of the funner sounds of 80s and 90s.
Sometime Around Mignight, yes.
this, No.
this, No.
Blatantly Strokes like. Not that that's a bad thing.
There's litigation from New Order in the offing here.
Is it bad that I think that this song would be much better if the singer would just shut up and let the guitar player take lead?
I'll bet they're huge in Finland already.....
