Feels like a place I've never been
And I
Feels like a place I've never seen
Oh
Somebody's giving it but I'm not
Somebody's giving it but I'm not
Somebody's giving it a lot of time
Somebody threw you a lifeline
Somebody wakes to the sun in the sky
Others are living with hate in their eyes
Oh
The fires that you made and the earth that you walk
The ground beneath and the words that you talk
The fires that you own and the words that you talk
The ground beneath and the air that we walk
All gone
And yeah
Like pictures of the sun
And yeah
Just like sketches of the sun
The colours run
Somebody's giving it but I'm not
Somebody's giving up the whole lot
Somebody's giving it a long time
Somebody threw me a lifeline
Sometimes it's hard to see things straight
Trying to make sense of a single day
Sometimes you seem to spend your life trying
Well I'm just looking for my lifeline
Fires that you made and the earth that you walk
The ground beneath and the words that you talk
Fires that you own and the words that you talk
The ground beneath and the air that we walk
The air that we walk on
All gone
I
Feels like a place I've never been
Don't look, you'll spoil the magic!

Why does it matter? I'm sure these guys don't have to wait tables or paint houses to sustain an income. Besides, if they were "HUGE", most of their fans wouldn't think they were cool anymore.
I really do want the bands I love to be huge. But more important i want them to deserve it. Lots of acts are huge and don't deserve it -- that is the problem.
Much more depth. I like ColdPlay but doubt I would buy a ColdPlay CD. I bought this Doves CD and look forward to buying more.
Doves have the sophisticated musicians housekeeping seal of approval. hehe But don't ask me how I know this.
Incidentally, if you like the Doves and Porcupine Tree, you then may very easily fall for Elbow.
i like this post. i remember years and years ago when i first heard doves on RP. i was instantly hooked. much like with porcupine tree and elbow. i couldn't listen to them daily, but i do like hearing them on RP regularly.
I find myself falling into that trap from time to time. Amy Winehouse, Adele, Blue October, Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse... all fell victim to their own success for me. I almost never listen to terrestrial radio anymore, but once someone gets played on commercial radio I lose interest. Most of the time I find that albums that come after a big commercial success are sub-par, but if I'm going to be honest with myself... Frankly I like the fact that I can tell people that I listen to music that 95% of Americans have never heard of.
Why not just listen to what you like regardless of anything else?
True that Proclivities, but when you look at the groups that compete for, what counts as the most prestigious award in music, and so few of them are creating new or interesting music, its disheartening to think about all the great music that struggles to find an audience that can sustain it.
If you are talking about the Grammys, everyone knows they are worthless. They are not a reflection on great music, just a tasteless music industry wank-fest.

Yup. Go easy on the olive oil.

Bad song!
Hah! I was going to say a fat man falling into a vat of hot donut batter. Fear and pain tinged with a morbid desire.
Maybe he had......maybe he had.
OK, I've warmed to it, but still like other tracks on this release better.
I did see an enjoyable concert DVD of them that I rented from Netflix. The DVD UI is not intuitive, but once I figured it out it was a terrific show.
However the intentionally flat singing on this track gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Same reason Porcupine Tree aren't...commercial radio sucks!
enjoy it while it lasts
Uhhh. They are pretty huge. The sell out major NYC music venues like Terminal 5.
Well, I - feels like a place I've never been
And, I - feels like a place I've never seen
Oh, somebody's givin' in but I'm not
Somebody's giving it but I'm not
Somebody's giving it a lifetime
Somebody threw you a lifeline
Somebody wakes to the sun in the sky

Somebody's givin' in but I'm not

Somebody's giving it a long time
Somebody threw me a lifeline
Sometimes it's hard to see things straight
Trying to make sense of a single page
Sometimes you seem to spend your life tryin'
But I'm just looking for my lifeline
The fires that you made and the earth that you walk
The soil beneath and the words that you talk
The fires that we own and the words that we talk
The ground beneath and the earth that we walk
The earth that we walk ... gone
All ... gone
Our - it feels like a place I've never been
Even more wonderful........

Yes, this track is weaker but overall the CD rocks!
If this is "weak" I'm happy!
The blah blah is unmistakable.
Don't know what the hell you are listening to, these guys are far and away better that poor excuse for a band coldplay.
i'm of the opinion that both suck. but hey, that's just me

Same, and agreed
and that is not a good thing.......
For me Coldplay is Doves without a soul.
