I called out your name.
Love it is hard,
Like an overdue train.
We felt so much more,
Than our hearts could explain.
On our first flash of freedom.
A fistful of glory; a suitcase of sin,
The rain which you dream in,
When you count to ten.
You go to the edge,
And you always give in.
On your first flash of freedom.
Down every canyon and mountain we fall,
We laugh at our shadows.
Tall on the wall.
Your brain is so full,
But you can't keep it all.
On your first flash of freedom.
Across ancient bridges,
Through a town with no name.
Across painted hills,
That no rich man came claim.
Run the wild mustangs,
That nothing can tame.
On your first flash of freedom.
On your first flash of freedom.
I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waste
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull up tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes me feel so horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!
omg
Maybe early Allman Bros., but really... TfTO?
Is it the dope?
Yep!! I thought it was just me...
Yeah....pity they only ever made 1 good one.
what does "butt rock" mean? Cigarette or marijuana butts? or are they being "butts?" (I haven't heard this term before.)
the lyrical content seems like an account of someone's first acid trip.
p.s In the back of my mind, I wondered if "butt rock" was just a nicer way to say "cock rock?" so I looked it up on Urban Dictionary.
Cock rock would be more ballsy and straight-ahead rock like "Highway Star - Deep Purple" good driving songs.
I don't know if I agree to any of the definitions of "butt rock" there were too many to list here, but this Petty song is too swirly and trippy to be "butt rock" in my opinion.

This is probably one of those songs I will need to listen to a few times to appreciate it.

Sounds a little Allman Bros-ish. Very nice I think.
The big difference from previous Heartbreakers stuff is the presence of drummer Steve Ferrone, who is stylistically a lot more versatile than Stan Lynch was.
I think at this stage in his career Petty is ready to expand his musical horizons a bit, and he now has the horses to do it, And from what I'm hearing here and on SNL, I personally cannot wait.
IMO Stan Lynch is one of the best rock and roll drummers that is currently alive. To bad him and Tom can't see eye to eye.

Yes, definitely. I love his classic stuff, but he's like 60. With all he's accomplished, I think he's allowed to do what he wants now, without fear of whether or not people will love it.
(I like this album so far)
Ooooh - fuck! How lame!
Is the F-bomb necessary?

really? i'm not entirely impressed. seems unlikely to be a Petty 'classic'.
That's EXACTLY what's so promising.

Now if only Petty would work with a lyricist . . . .
Damn! and now I just checked out his website; no stop in SLC on this tour. I am bummed.

Is it the dope?
yeah, say WHAT?!
Yes and Allman Brothers are my top 2 all-time favoritist bands of all effen time.
and...I don't hear tfto....wouldn't mind if I did...but I don't...
The bass player is definately channeling Barry Oakley from the original ABB.
