When I go, I go alone
There ain't no one ever looking out for me
Just the sun, my own lean shadow
And the wind out among the trees

Home, it's far beyond long lost horizons
Home I'll never see
For I'll be a prisoner of the road
And I hold no key that will ever set me free

Most humbly on my bending knee
I'm begging you to help me, please
For I'm a prisoner of the road
And I hold no key, I hold no key that will ever set me free

It is !
A compelling voice!
The same Florence & The Machine -> Sivert Hoyem set from 4 weeks ago just repeated.

Bob Dylan - One More Cup Of Coffee
Tori Amos - Cornflake Girl
Florence & The Machine - Leave My Body
Sivert Hoyem - Prisoner of the Road

That means Rolling Stones "Wild Horses" is next.

It's cool, I know Bill can't be here 24/7, just interesting about how the music sets are used.
Hey man.  I got stuff to do.  Can't just stop what I'm doin and dance around.
Dedicate this to those in Ukraine
Amazing voice but stylistically over the top. I have to turn him off.?
So emotionally sung,wowaaaaa😍
Wow!
Would love to see this guy live.  Going to be tough to do in Australia. Enjoy the voice and music.
I love his voice! "Madrugada" will always live!
One thing I admit is: perfect as a segue for F+TM.

Rarely do I execute the PSD option, but this time I did.  Hello Norah Jones

He has only one volume, where he is pressing, pressing, pressing his voice so it has that hard edge. Effective in small doses, but not as a steady diet.
I prefer it when he sings softly.  Sure can hold a note though
Tell 'em, brother

fred:  10^3 thanks!

Lachrymose indeed.
After this was finished over to spotify to play the album

(didn't care for Yann Tiersen playing next)

I like his voice and styling, but this isn't a particularly good example of it.  And by coincidence, I myself will ALWAYS execute the PSD option when Norah Jones shows up -- Steely Dan too.
Time to see what's on the jazz station this morning . . .
fuck the road, build a house.
This artist reaches into your soul !!
Definitely play Sivert Hayem again, and again, and again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
soothing and great...more Sivert on RP, he's such a great and talented artist. If you find him performing live somewhere near you, please go and you won't regret it ever! This year he is touring with Madrugada also
sounds like the singer from Madrugada. I like.
to all the haters, lol avg is 7.4 out of 229. Soooo, you are in the minority. press psd, if you contribute, I doubt it, and move on please.
God this is insufferable.

I just find this guy's voice and style incredible (in a good way).
All the aliens in my shack above the left coast be leaking tears from the human parts of their souls as invoked by Sivert's calling.

Great voice, strong, deep and full of emotion.
Great voice, dull lyrics, just painful, aarghhh
I like so much this voice!
I'm with SmackDaddy.. if we're gonna play this song 10 times a month, let's pick something else from their discography.

According to the text under the very moving video on YouTube:
Sivert Høyem wrote the song "Prisoner of the road" in 2010 in order to raise awareness for the worlds 43,2 million refugees and IDPs. Buy the song on Itunes and help The Norwegian Refugee Council protect refugees and IDPs fleeing from war
A search via Google (iTunes search sucks the big one, as does iTunes IMO) gets an iTunes page on Sivert Hoyem.
You know, Bill, if you were to give us a little vacation from Sivert and his cronies — say, a month — I would smile.

I'm with you. We all need to chip in and buy Bill more tuneage

Oh, heavens, no.

Threadjack:

I've got most of the Lomax recordings, collected over the years in bits and pieces since I first heard them in college. However, thanks to the internets, you can hear a lot of them on the Library of Congress site:

https://www.loc.gov/folklife/lomax/

We owe an amazing debt to this man. I shudder to think of the culture that would have been lost without him.
He was the lead singer: they broke up after the death of a band member.

To answer your query...YES!
Love his voice on this fantastic track it showcases him beautifully.

I love Icecream its a wonderful desert made from natural products.
too much and will get sick of either of them.

maybe a different flavour (not flavor), something else from Sievert (and not "Majesty")
This a travesty of a mockery of a sham...

No. Refugees throughout the world endure the most appalling suffering. This song always moves me, sometimes to tears. And for those of you smugly thinking that you could never become refugees because you live in the developed world, think of the Balkan Wars of the early 90s. A rare 10 from the brimming Nottingham jury.

The YouTube video for this, made on behalf of the Norwegian Refugee Council, is even more moving and disturbing. As it should be.

Sivert Hoyem — Prisoner of the Road

This is point that I tune out. Off to Pandora for a bit. (Of course what always happens is that Bill will start playing some good stuff after I leave and I'll kick myself when I see the playlist.)
thanking Bill for the PSD...

Very interesting voice. The feature that struck me the most were the spectacular images that acompanied the song. Including one by a certain William Goldsmith Laughing

I love Sivert Hoyem, every time I hear that voice it makes me stop, and listen...

The problem with Prisoner is that the more I hear it, the less I like it and I am hearing it too often. The grandeur of his voice becomes stale. Is that the fault of the song or just how it is played? - I'll rate it when it has stopped irritating me.

This is a song about refugees, highly apposite for our times, and extremely moving. The guy has a brain and a conscience and a sense of solidarity.

Awesome. Music with a purpose from an incredible artist.

Prisoner of the Road and Florence & The Machine back to back... on RP just another Friday morning.
