Sleight of hand jump off the end
Into a clear lake, no one around
Just dragonflies flying to the side
No one gets hurt, you've done nothing wrong

Slide your hand, jump off the end
The water's clear and innocent, the water's clear and innocent

In Soviet Russia, KGB finds you...
Haunting.
Songs don't have to be complicated to reach out & grab you emotionally.
Hence this special number.

Emotionally moving musically and lyrically ✌️
Love the horns
I've tried to appreciate RH, I really have, but just can't take the depressing wailing of Yorke.  Always a PSD moment for me when they come on.
Thank you for reminding me of this beautiful song.  I don't go back to this album often, but this is a gem.
Stopped buying their CDS after Kid A and discovering this is a SWEET surprise

Not even worthy of a yawn.

It's a riot to drop back in here and see other RP listeners saying "Bill you play too much goddamned Radiohead!"

That said, for my money on the recent albums Thom Yorke is doing more singing than whining and there is an actual melody once in a while —- like here.

I will never forgive them for Creep, though.

maybe they have effectively contributed to more than a thousands to take radical decisions, important decision of any kind, but it is not because they are depressive, they aren´t, the word is "reflexive"

"Slide your hand" is a reference to the physical tuck required for an effective bomb.

The real giveaway is the title "Codex" - surely this is reference to the list of rules of acceptable behaviour.

code, codex - Code, from Latin codex, meaning "block of wood split into tablets, document written on wood tablets," was first a set of laws.

I'm with you, Jake. So obvious...who would think Radiohead would do a song about such a dark subject as suicide, anyway? Just a bunch of happy guys trying to lighten the mood is all.

Powerful and dreamlike. Hard to tell what is real.

This song is about longing to be dead.  It is about love of death.  Suicide.
Doesn't get much better than this.

I love Radiohead but I feel like the band gets a little too much play here. Still a beautiful song though.

Blissful.  Just close my eyes and let the world become something else.  There aren't many bands can do that.

Sophisticated music is often for soulless snobs - rock 'n' roll was created for teenagers.  This song is pretty good, but there is very little which is "sophisticated" about it.

Now, using common sense and critical sense, I must also say, that after a certain point, I began to notice a significant change in the work done so far by this group. More precisely, from 2008, or the album In Rainbows.
In this album there have been early signs of rupture and dissection of ideas, but still agree on the whole album as a work of undeniable quality, but  far away, I must say, the work most inspiring and sounds of this band.
My fears were confirmed in King of Limbs (2011).
Are unrecognized, boring, monotonous, unstructured, ridiculously songs, a set of rhythmic exercise, dull, percussion boxes wandering, finally, as a "stretch cord" which is worth for than competence and skill as performers of their instruments, but without inspiration, without claw, without conviction. And the result is little more than disappointing, without offering anything new.
If they continue down this path, it is already a decline, a downside of this band.
If this band had appeared, the first time in 2011 with "The King of Limbs". I think that would be rejected by the sieve "Listener Review Channel" and none of the songs in airplay.
But as the proverb says, "Create fame and lie down to sleep"
We shall see.

This is too absolutist for me. I tend to judge songs, bands and albums both in historical context and individually. Not that I am "right" by doing so, but I'm equally intrigued by where a band goes in comparison to where they have been. Having said that, I find myself liking Radiohead's music more and more.
Your statement is a load of crap.  But you are entitled to having nothing but air between your ears.

That would be, "no". Nowhere. At all.

Somebody needs to tell Thom Yorke there's a difference between exploring angst and depression, and making me want to down a bottle of clonipin with a Wild Turkey chaser.

Maybe not all music needs to go somewhere; maybe some of it simply creates a mood. It took me years to get this about Radiohead; now I find listening to their music infinitely rewarding.
