You, you who has smiled when you're in pain
You who has soldiered through the profane
They were distracted and shut down
So why, why would you talk to me at all
Such words were dishonorable and in vain
Their promise as solid as a fog
And where was your watchman then
I'll be your keeper for life as your guardian
I'll be your warrior of care your first warden
I'll be your angel on call, I'll be on demand
The greatest honor of all, as your guardian
You, you in the chaos feigning sane
You who has pushed beyond what's humane
Them as the ghostly tumbleweed
And where was your watchman then
I'll be your keeper for life as your guardian
I'll be your warrior of care your first warden
I'll be your angel on call, I'll be on demand
The greatest honor of all, as your guardian
Now no more smiling mid crestfall
No more managing unmanageables
No more holding still in the hailstorm
Now enter your watchwoman
I'll be your keeper for life as your guardian
I'll be your warrior of care your first warden
I'll be your angel on call, I'll be on demand
The greatest honor of all, as your guardian
You who has soldiered through the profane

Well, the third time is enough. Not looking forward to hearing this anymore.
Looking forward to hearing this again, so I can see if my first (and not good) impression holds.

Excellent
I was something of a casual Alanis fan when I was in high school, and I really liked Jagged Little Pill. The later stuff didn't really do much for me and my tastes had changed a bit so I never picked up any more albums. However, I decided that Alanis was awesome after watching Dogma. I know that she had a small roll, but being able to play God with tongue firmly in cheek says something about her that I liked.
That, and I think she's kinda hot.

make. it. stop.

She and Don Henley (the Eagles) supported Napster in front of US Congress in 2001. Rumour has it that she made millions by investing in Napster.
That rumor would have to be incorrect as Napster has never made any money. The "old" Napster (file-swapping) never had any way to derive revenue from their users, and the "new" Napster (download sales) has been a colossal money-sink for its investors.

New Alanis, so far, so good. Upbeat at least.

Same here. I can't not like her, even if I tried. This song might not be her best but I don't see anything wrong with it either.
Maybe is nostalgia, but I will always love Alanis

Not bad. Her vocal tics don't bother me as much on this song as they do on some others.
OMG, are you kidding me, Bill? Please, don't make a habit of this one.

Believe it or not, that is how she is in real life. Exactly. I gave her a massage at the resort spa I used to work at, and she was very gracious and kind and said it was one of the best she'd ever had——and so I told her, "Well, thank you for everything you've given to the world of music." That looked like it just made her day!
