Never knew love like this
The wind, moon, the earth, the sky
Sky so high
Never knew pain like this
Everything die, then die
Never knew love like this
The sun, the sea and I
Never knew pain, never knew shame
Now I know why

Bury me, marry me to the sky
Marry, marry me to the sky
Feels like time is on my time
Bury me upside down
Cherokee, kissing me
When I'm, I'm going down
Feels like time is on my time
Bury me upside down
Cherokee, kissing me
When I'm, I'm going down

Never knew love like this
The wind, moon, the earth, the sky
Sky so high
Never knew pain like this
Everything die, then die
Never knew love like this
The sun, the sea and I
Never knew pain, never knew shame
Now I know why

Bury me, marry me to the sky
Marry, marry me to the sky
Feels like time is on my time
Bury me upside down
Cherokee, kissing me
When I'm, I'm going down
Feels like time is on my time
Bury me upside down
Cherokee, kissing me
When I'm, I'm going down
Feels like time is on my time
Bury me upside down, down
Cherokee, kissing me
When I'm, I'm going down.

Best part of this song is the contribution of the Red-tailed hawk.
Stultifyingly unimaginative and repetitive.
Love this song. Evokes the joy and pain of the Cherokee Nation, Chan Marshall, the rest of us, and, yes, "hawkdom".

Maybe the hawk swooped down and stole her hair?

Such a good album ... but isn't that the SAME hawk sound used EVERYWHERE, in every movie, in every commercial? Well, I suppose they all sound the same, alas. Not the hawk's fault.

Says you, I blame the hawk.
I just heard the HAWK ,,,,,,does not sound like the ones that fly over my house, and take my cats away

The "Cat" has more power than we tend to give it credit for..sometimes.

Very well produced

Catchy

The eagle is a bit over the top though...

I just let out a guffaw. That was a very bad decision on the producers part.

It made me giggle. I think about those not so good 'girl group' songs from the 60s when I hear this tune.
OK, I'm confused. When you die, am I marrying you upside down or am I burying you to the sky?

OK, after a few listens I gotta say this song is almost really good in a way that almost makes me loathe it.  It's just very disappointing. :(

You've got some pretty mixed-up feelings there, Ziggy ;-)

I can understand what you mean, though. I feel the same way about some Radiohead songs which have grown on me like rampant fungus. I've come to like them in a way that I loathe. I don't think I can explain it in words...{#Stupid}

They've been playing this one on local radio and I love it. Great to hear it on RP too.

That was so unexpected that it made me do a double take! {#Eh}
