I'm a ghost
Living in a ghost town
I'm a ghost
Living in a ghost town

You can look for me
But I can't be found
You can search for me
I had to go underground
Life was so beautiful
Then we all got locked down
Feel like a ghost
Living in a ghost town

Once this place was humming
And the air was full of drumming
The sound of cymbals crashing
Glasses were all smashing
Trumpets were all screaming
Saxophones were blaring
Nobody was caring if it's day or night

I'm a ghost
Living in a ghost town
I'm going nowhere
Shut up all alone

So much time to lose
Just staring at my phone

Every night I am dreaming
That you'll come and creep in my bed
Please let this be over
Not stuck in a world without end

Preachers were all preaching
Charities beseeching
Politicians dealing
Thieves were happy stealing
Widows were all weeping
There's no beds for us to sleep in
Always had the feeling
It will all come tumbling down

I'm a ghost
Living in a ghost town
You can look for me
But I can't be found

We're all living in a ghost town
Living in a ghost town
We were so beautiful
I was your man about town
Living in this ghost town
Ain't having any fun
If I want a party
It's a party of one

Dude, I can hardly stand listening to this because Mick sounds TOO good. Its all smoothed out and there's nothing rough or natural about his voice AT ALL.

The pitch correction on this entire album is so overdone and obvious to me, I completely blame the crappy pop producer (known for working with Camila Cabello, Miley, Bieber, etc).

Its like when someone's skin looks blurry and flat when they've gone overboard on retouching their photo (example).

Nice enough version. Total rip off. Sorry. That’s the feeling.

Can't disagree with you.
Is this Charlie Watts' last recording? Or did they also record songs after this?
Good Tune!
RS: Oo-ooh, oo-ooh
ME: Ah ah ah
This is really good. A rare exception to the seeming rule that yesterday's bands can't write great new music.

I am a big fan of the Beatles (not Stones
) and old Sir McCartney but I noticed Paul's voice becoming seriously .. uhm ... old. But Mick's voice sounds like directly from the 70's fresh and young... From the biography I would have expected the other way around ;-)

Edit:
McCartney III is surprisingly fresh as well... Paul is the best!

Very catchy with good staying power. Very stones like!

Why is it all the political hate on this forum is always from the left?  And unwarranted as well, this is a music forum.

Just as business majors tend to be a bit right of center; musicians, like many other artists, tend to be a bit left of center. Given the proclivity of many RP listeners to be music aficionados at least, if not musicians themselves, it isn't surprising the majority of the comments here are from the left. Also, the comments here are often quite insightful and indicative of people with higher educational levels, which is also associated with people who tend more towards the left than the right.

That's not clear, it's wrong.
very good
this might be the song I remember most from the year-long covid isolation... not complaining

Apposite for our COVID times?!

I know my mind works in strange bends and twists, but the Stones right after (If God was) One of Us got me thinking, "of all the bands that originated in the 60's the Stones would not have been the one that I would have predicted God would have spared, so that they would still be rockin' an' rollin' 6 decades later."
The mysteries of the universe are vast and endless.
This is a good song, but do we have to have it so frequently?

The last line: "If I want a party, it's a party of one."
ha - so true in 2020.
Those Stones just keep on rolling!!
Love this song. Not too many bands that still make new music after all those years. Greatful for that. Great respect for this band.
You play this song WAY to much.

It's quite nice, but I think the "whoa" bit is not very inspired, a bit lame to be honest.
If this was released by some younger band, people would pay more attention to the song.  But since anyone over 40 is a "has been" in rock, so much great music has been dismissed and ignored (Robert Plant's solo career of the last 25 years is an example).

I love the Stones but I'd rather listen to the proper 'original'...

The boys probably haven’t produced anything Earth-shattering since “Exile on Main Street” in 1972 but it’s always good to hear Keith’s crunching riffs

Wow, amazing they can still write decent songs after all these years!
I guess after nearly 60 years of playing the same part in the play (i.e. the "bad boys" of rock 'n roll) you would start to feel like a ghost living in a ghost town.  RP has introduced me to a lot of the music that undoubtedly influenced bands like The Rolling Stones. I must say I prefer it - especially to this uninspired track.
Can't say I find anything new or fresh about this.
10 plays in the last 30 days?  I be listening.

For the first couple of bars, I thought this was old Stones I had somehow forgotten or missed.

"Life was so beautilful, then we all got locked down; feel like a ghost, living in a ghost town." Perfect, historical , a great song!

$20 on the Stones website for the vinyl single?!
I guess that would be OK if all proceeds were going to fighting the pandemic (that may be the case but there was no mention of it on their website), but otherwise it seems pretty steep.
Here's the official video:

As you say, it would have gone down better if they'd donated (some of) the proceeds to health charities. As it is, it simply smacks of cashing in on the pandemic.
Good tune. I do find the bit of auto tune on Mick's voice a bit distracting. Their song, their production choices I guess. :)
A great song for this moment in time! Thanks Bill and Rebecca

Nice.  Timeless.

So, on first listen, I'm thinking,  "these lyrics sure are timely".

Then I checked the date. Nice job, Stones! Nice job, Bill and Rebecca!

April 26,2020, I'm living in a ghost town.

It was actually written last year. They released it last week however. I think they recorded it remotely.

Thank you, Bill and Rebecca. That song premiered April 23, 2020. And, the Stones delivered a song for the times....

First Play, First Listen. Sounds like the Stones.

Initial like for sure.
Topical,  could make a historical footnote. Not bad... started at a 5,  had to bump it to at least a 7. It's the Stones fer chrissake!  After 58 years they get points for getting out of bed.
WCBS FM (101.1FM) brought up this song today on their morning show.  I only caught a snippet of it then, but liked it.

Thanks for playing it, Bill!
Technical difficulties today? I'm getting dead air and got that earlier, too.
First, I guess.

Also, enjoying the song on first listen.
