This is the end of every song that we sing
The fire burned out to ash
And the stars grown dim with tears
Cold and afraid
The ghosts of all that we've been
We toast, with bitter dregs, to our emptiness
And the birds falling out of our skies
And the words falling out of our minds
And here is to love, to all the love
Falling out of our lives
Hopes and dreams are gone
The end of every song
And it all stops
We were always sure that we would never change
And it all stops
We were always sure that we would stay the same
But it all stops
And we close our eyes to sleep
To dream a boy and girl
Who dream the world is nothing but a dream
Where did it go?
Where did it go?
Broken voiced lament to call us home
This is this end of every song we sing
Where did it go?
Where did it go?
Where did it go?
Where did it go?
Broken voiced lament to call us home
This is the end of every song we sing alone
The fire burned out to ash
And the stars grown dim with tears
Cold and afraid
The ghosts of all that we've been
We toast, with bitter dregs, to our emptiness
And the birds falling out of our skies
And the words falling out of our minds
And here is to love, to all the love

Where did it go?
Where did it go?
Broken voiced lament to call us home
This is the end of every song we sing alone

One of Bill‘s funnier comments. “Here we are in 2024, and Robert Smith still can’t keep a girlfriend.”

Excellent.
New album will be released Nov. 1 and I've read a couple of very positive reviews, hopeful it is strong overall!
New Cure! Excellent... 7 straight out of the box and destined to grow further. Thanks again RP.
This was a fantastic opener for their concert(s) last year.
I'd see it all again in a sad, lonely heartbeat

Morbid and sludgy describe this perfectly.

He’s nostalgic now, yearning for what was. Musically, we’ve all heard better versions of this lament. But Hall of Famers who have to tour need something new to keep it interesting.
I smell a movie score in the future…not a bad thing necessarily, but I’ll have to give it another listen (if William permits) before rating it.
IDK Bill...it's no worse than all that King Crimson I suffer through.
They can do better.
I’m with you Bill. Suck O Barfo.
I've heard worse.
Giving this an 8 to start simply because it's a new Cure single!
Not bad at all
2 first minutes are nice.

Ha, very funny! Yet he's been married to the same woman since 1988. Or maybe that's the cause of his despair?
I get that most people on RP are not fans of The Cure's more dour offerings, but I happen to love this along with Pornography and the second half of Disintegration that got less airplay. And 40 years on they still put on a fantastic show.
