Wait till you hear what I want it for. The idea is to have one line of type (psychadelic-style ala Rick Griffin's Ballroom posters) that reads as one word/phrase rightside up and the other word/phrase upside down.

Alexandra wrote:This is pretty much the final draft of the book summary that will go on the back cover of my novel:
The Internet: a cyber-playground in which we can be—or not be—whomever we want. Yearning for escape from her stagnant job as a textbook editor in Cincinnati, thirty-eight year-old Cara Shannon frequents the message boards of an eclectic online radio station where she meets a host of unique people including the mysterious "saffire_21," whom she begins to suspect is her niece Arianna. There's only one problem: Arianna has been dead for seven years. Although it seems far-fetched and insane, Cara is driven to learn the truth about her niece. Was Arianna's death staged? Should their family have questioned the mysterious circumstances surrounding it? With the support of Kevin, her intriguing and attentive cyber-crush from Santa Barbara, Cara ventures into the scenic wine country of California's Central Coast in search of saffire_21. On her journey, unexpected discoveries about love and life emerge, bringing her future into focus like never before.
Reads very well. Sounds like something to read at the beach or by the pool during a hot lazy day or two. Full of contemporary "hooks".

So....I've raised 1/3 of my publishing funds....I will probably get paid an installment for a commissioned project that I'm half done with...and if I kick in the final $480 bucks (I could probably make this in the biz in the next month)...I'm golden. I'll have the entire amount. So it's all good. And I couldn't be more grateful OR excited. Especially for the support and encouragement I've gotten from my RPeeps in the last few years. You all ROCK beyond words.

Alexandra wrote:I've already posted this question among writers on Chris Moore's boards......but how do fiction authors handle phone numbers these days? Do they use the fictitious "555" exchange that they always used in TV shows and movies? Would that sound laughable or cliche now?
My character is leaving his digits in an email for someone to call him...and I'm using NYC's 212 area code...so I don't want to make up a number, lest it be someone's real one.
What have you seen in current novels? Anything? 555?
You could find out what prefixes that areacode uses and make up your own that isn't on the list. That way if somebody calls they get a bogus number message. If you're worried they might start using that prefix later call the phone company and ask them what to do. If they say to use 555 or otherwise aren't helpful then print their number.
