Ha! That was our family car. 67, Butternut Yellow, black interior...

Car colors tend to follow consumer goods products by a year or two. Avocado green appliances were all the rage at the time.

I had a Camaro with a 454 when I was about 18. I put a lot of work into building it, so I had some restraint, but I also used to bet people a tank of gas that it would spin the tires in all four gears. So Yay luck!

Yes, you probably were very fortunate to have survived with such a tempting vehicle - especially at that age.  The green shades were pretty popular back then - it seems like the Ford/Mercury green was a little lighter (or "yellower") than the GM/Pontiac green (I'm a little fuzzy on it, but I had a few friends who restored old muscle cars years back and they had the paint formulas and samples).  I guess those shades aren't as popular these days, though Kia and Ford (among others) do have sort of metallic "Day-Glo" greens on some of their models.

I've never bought a car new and color has never entered into my decision making in the slightest.  I even drove around in a retired ambulance for a few years.  However if you take away the black stripe and fancy wheels and put a lot more road dirt on it then this is the very first car I ever owned.

The 351 Cleveland more than made up for the color I think.  I also think I was very fortunate to survive owning such a machine at nineteen.

Yes, especially that color.  I don't remember seeing very many of those back then.  Chevy's El Camino was apparently more popular.
