Count me in with the mountain/molehill group , but hiccup (6' tall, shoeless) favors the short hairstyle and has noticed she gets called "sir" more often than you would expect for someone with her...umm...build.

I've always found short hair attractive.  I wonder what that says about me, politically.  Closet case? 

Except....as a woman who has had both long hair and buzzed, it made a HUGE difference in the way I was treated. Every day. Her conclusion is don't change your hair as a political statement which I can get behind. But just because your motivations aren't political (she is clear that hers aren't) that doesn't mean that there aren't consequences. Sandwiched between the other two blog posts I think the three provide an interesting discussion on beauty. 

So wrong. Her pig-blogger is wrong, and her response is wrong. Short hair is a political statement? Maybe, occasionally, when Sinead or Britney shaves it all off, they're saying something, but no. It may be prudent, more accepted in places, more attractive to a certain audience, even, but flatly saying it's political? No. Or are we still saying short hair on women is butch, long hair on men is girly? I didn't read very carefully after the first third or so, so it may have improved.

That was the happy mix!  I admit to still being partial to that CD.  However the next year I made an "alone under the mistletoe" mix full of sad and depressing holiday music.  That one has not been nearly as popular with friends & family.

I am prolly one of the only people in the US who don't know much about Oprah.  I admire the adversity she has overcome and the few times I've seen her on TV she seems very charismatic.  But I have never joined the Oprah bandwagon.  That said, a friend linked up to Oprah's dreamboard widget.  It isn't the most technically sleek thing - def some design flaws.  But it did get me thinking about what I want to accomplish in the new year.  So I'm posting it here in case you are needing a little nudge, like I was.

Crate & Barrel has free downloads HERE.  Currently there is a music mix, book, and some apps.  The book is that children's book by the guy from the decemberists.  Anyway, it is prolly US only (sorry) and seems to require iTunes.  But if you can get past those two restrictions, looks like some interesting stuff.
