Here is a good Irish blessing for friends! Happy St. Patrick's Day!


May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

I make a damn fine corned beef and cabbage, carrots and potatoes, but probably won't tomorrow. I'll wait for the corned beef to be on sale by the weekend.

I did make green enchiladas for dinner on St. Patrick's eve, though...

Personally, I love it as a day set aside to honor Irish culture.........and I DON'T like that it's also a day for some of the city's biggest asshats to publicly get drunk and stupid and obnoxious. But one has to take the bad with the good.

Well we never celebrated St Paddy's day when I lived in Ireland. The big parade on O'Connell Street was a tourist attraction and a pain in the arse. 

st patrick's day is HUGE in chicagoland....all this past weekend, there were parades, and parties, and lots of green beer being drunk.....at one time, the irish immigrant population of chicago was actually higher than the population of dublin...more irish here than back home....and the irish mafia basically founded this city..so.....cheers, mayor daley!!

I'll have to be content with Ballykissangel reruns.

I'm already getting excited........I've got half my day blocked off to go downtown to the Dublin Pub...and see all the folk-Irish bands, the step dancers, the pipers, the awesome people...and it's going to be 72 degrees and sunny.....WOOHOO!
