OK. Apparently some of you don't know who you are. Jedi mind tricks not accepted here.

Please help with smog question. Mag brought her 97 Pathfinder for a special kind of smog check called a "star certified" . Every thing passed nicely except for OBD system check because at lease 3 of the monitors needed to be re-set. He the said the way the re-set them was twas to drive the car at least 100 - 150 miles and making sure the fuel level is kept between 25% and 75% full. Then let the engine cool off completely before returning.
Thanks!

It should not take that long to set the monitors. I had the same problem once, I'd disconnected the battery to do some work to get it ready for inspection, and it failed because the 'puter had no history in it. I drove it to work and back the next day, less than ten miles, and it passed fine. The fuel level and engine temperature should not matter, the computer knows what to do about those.

Correct. When the OBD II system is reset, it needs to perform certain subroutines to check for proper operation of things like oxygen sensors and such. Each different make has its own menu, if you will, of driving parameters that have to be checked off (like driving at sustained speeds, or varying speeds, for a given time).
