Tivo'd this show last week and watched it. "Clean coal" indeed. {#Rolleyes}
I work for an enviro NGO so I knew much of this information already.
What was it you wanted to discuss? I thought it was a good solid documentary.

HEAT

I'm starting this topic specifically about the "Frontline" (PBS television network) documentary "Heat".  It's showing right now on PBS.  Please consult your local television listings for show air times.  I hope that RPeeps will watch, and then come back here to discuss the content of the documentary.

The primary reason why I'm starting a new topic centered around "Frontline: Heat", as opposed to posting in a preexisting topic covering similar subject material is because I am increasingly shocked by the sources from which RPeeps get their "information", especially about things in life that are simply too important to be cavalier about.  Frankly I am alarmed to see a trend towards 100% reliance on the Worldwide Web (WWW) for news, and a trend towards 0% mention of books, periodicals, professional journals and other responsibly published works.  When I say "responsibly", I am referring to publishing methods where some party takes responsibility for the accuracy and factualness of the publication.  Responsibility in publication has been vital to the beholder in distinguishing between trustworthy content and worthless opinions.

The reason why a person should search out responsibly published information should be obvious.  But I fear that far too many people who should know better have either forgotten, or never learned about judging the relative quality of information sources.  In this Internet age, when literally anybody with Internet access can publish whatever they like, I expected to see a collective demand for high-responsibility sources to give some guarantee of the authenticity of what is being presented to the Internet user.  With a staggering volume of words out there on the Internet, an individual with common sense would want some form of filter, so that they are not mislead, and that their precious time is not wasted.  I'm sad to say that the trend that I'm seeing is the exact opposite of that.

So, in the interest of bringing high quality, high responsibility information to a group of people who, whether they realize it or not, need to know the difference, and see more valid information (as opposed to zero responsibility websites, masquerading as bona fide information), I present "Heat".

Anybody who wishes to argue the efficacy of responsible publishing are welcome to start a separate topic (or use an existing one, if one exists) about that particular subject.  This is the place to discuss the particulars contained within "Frontline: Heat".  Please watch then discuss.
