moDernisT_v2 from Ryan Patrick Maguire on Vimeo. "moDernisT" was created by salvaging the sounds and images lost to compression via the mp3 and mp4 codecs. the audio is comprised of lost mp3 compression material from the song "Tom's Diner",

So FLAC would be best for new rips? Is there any audible difference between that and 256/320 kbps MP3's? (BTW, I understand that lossless formats are better, I just want to know if I would be able to tell a difference).

IMO There's no reason to consider file size anymore. Hard disk space is insanely cheap. I'm considering re-ripping all of my CDs because I was "extravagant" 10 years ago and went with the huge 256 size. But now, ripping to any lossy format is a waste of time. Is there a perceivable difference between 256/320 (or, for that matter, 192) kbps MP3's? And if there is, is the trade-off between size and quality worth it? Or should I just get everything in FLAC or something like that?
P.S. I have pretty good headphones, so I'd be able to hear some differences. I just want other people's opinion on differences in quality.
